(Uh, John - You can't rest your big fat case yet. You haven't gotten to the part where Fred quits the Senate to be on "Law And Order - Wil Forbis, Acid Logic Editor) Oh, crap! I'm going to be big mean redneck just like Fred Dalton Thompson when I grow up. Me and the three idiots who work at the dump where I get my deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches are going to follow his Path To Glory just as John, Paul, George, and Ringo set forth on Elvis' forty years ago. Yes, America - As long as there are hysterical boobs running around screaming and yelling like hysterical little bitches there will be a need for big mean rednecks like Fred Dalton Thompson to slap the shit out of em before they really make assholes out of themselves. Remember what Acid Logic was like before I came along? Those people were on the verge of horoscopes and dessert recipes before I showed up. Aw, who am I kidding? In 2008 Hillary is going to become Supreme Dragon Lady and all us rednecks will wind up in the UN death camps to subsist on boiled rocks and be human guinea pigs in scientific experiments run by the bass player of R.E.M. such as "What is the reaction of the redneck to a Margaret Cho cable special while I jump up and down on his testicles on a pogo stick while dressed up Julianne Moore in 'Far From Heaven'?". But that's allright, we won't even know the difference. Once you've made it through four years of Jimmy Carter in the White House anything is an improvement.

John Harris CORNISH was born in 1811 in Gwennap, England, he married Ann THOMPSON in 1834 in Amlwck, Anglesey, Wales. Five of their seven children were born in Wales, the younger two sons were born in Dodgeville, Iowa County, Wisconsin.

LOYALISTS TO THE ENGLISH CROWN
STRANG, PRICE and WRIGHT were all surnames from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut Loyalist Families. Each family left property and family behind to support the English Crown. Richard PRICE arrived at Charlottetown, the Island of St. John (Prince Edward Island) from Shelburne, Nova Scoyia, a refugee settlement. Richard PRICE was one of two disbanded redcoat-veterans of the Seventh Regimant of Foot. This unit had been personally organized by King James II in 1685 as "Our Royal Regiment of Fusiliers." Richard had entered as a private soldier on December 23, 1780. Less than amonth later he was captured at the famous and crucial Battle of Cowpens in South Carolina on January 17, 1781.

I do not remember the name of the owner of the slaves; but, I do remember that in some way, my father was killed near Red River when I was very young and my grandfather, William Thompson, who lived in the vicinity of Fort Gibson, brought my mother and me to his place near Green Leaf Court House about ten miles east of Fort Gibson where I was reared. In 1866 I was married to Emma Battles and to this union five children were born. Later we were separated.

Date of Birth: about 1892
Place of Birth:
Father: John Thompson
Information on Father: Mother: Sarah (Aunt Sally) Information on Mother: Field Worker: I moved to Daisy, then called Etna, Indian Territory with my family in the year of 1894 or 95 when I was two years old. Etna was on the old stagecoach line, which ran from Stringtown to Tuskahoma. It was also called "Fishers Old Stand" or "Many Springs". I think George ROLLEN ran the store at that time, and Billy McARTHUR was the store clerk. My parents John and Sarah (Aunt Sally) Thompson lived one half mile south of Etna on the old Ward COBB place, now known as the WILLIAMSON place. My father hauled freight for the store. He sold the freight to Dr. WOODS, who boarded at our house much of the time. His wife stayed in McAlester with her son by a former marriage, Carl KELLOGG. He and his half brother Willie Woods ran a big store in McAlester.

THOMPSON HOME PAGE - KENT ISLAND, QUEEN ANNE CO, MD
Updated January 7, 2001
This site focuses on the THOMPSON Family of Kent Island, Queen Anne County, Maryland. Associated Families include COLEMAN of Queen Anne and Kent County, Maryland; LEGG Family of Queen Anne County, Maryland; APSLEY Family of Kent County, Maryland; THOMPSON and TROTT (TROTH) Families of Dorchester County, Maryland; LAWRENCE, SHORES, MOORE, BOZMAN, SHEPPARD, and WALLACE Families of Somerset County, Maryland; and,HASPERT and HEIM Families of Queen Anne County, Maryland who were Volga Germans.
John Thompson's parents are not known. Two possible lineages have been found. John Thompson's father may have been Thomas Thompson who died in 1818 in Dorchester County. An 1818 Dorchester County newspaper abstract lists John Thompson and John Harper as administrators of Thomas Thompson's estate of Dorchester County, deceased (Source: Maryland Eastern Shore Newspaper Abstracts, Vol 4 1819 - 1824 by F. Edward Wright). A second possible lineage is from William Thompson and Mary Fordyce, a line that originated in Scotland, to Ireland and to America (Source: John J. Yanik, jr. jbailey@lcsys.net). William and Mary Thompson had ten children who scattered to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. Two brothers, Richard and John, settled in the Dorchester County area of Maryland, Richard Thompson was born in 1663 and married Margaret Beatty September 8, 1689. The other brother was John Thompson born about 1690.

Strangers to Us All Lawyers and Poetry John Reuben Thompson
John Reuben Thompson was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1823 and attended school in East Haven, Connecticut and Richmond. He was educated at the University of Virginia where he studied ancient languages, natural philosophy, mathematics, and chemistry and received his degree in 1842. (When Thompson attended the University of Virginia, his biographer, Gerald M. Garmon, notes that the University had only twelve professors and 179 students.) Thompson returned to Richmond and associated himself with the law office of James A. Seddon. He spent two years with Seddon and then returned to the University of Virginia to study law with Henry St. George Tucker . He received his law degree in 1845. Garmon in John Reuben Thompson tells the story of Thompson's ensuing legal career in a single paragraph: When he returned to Richmond this time, he found that Seddon was serving a term in Congress. This may be why Thompson decided to set up his own law practice over his father's store at Fourteenth and Main streets. What success he had has a lawyer is not recorded. He continued for at least two years, but law seems to have held little interest for him. Much of his energy and interest was diverted into his social life. His father was prospering, and young Thompson saw no reason to work at his profession.

I am also working on my mother's lines, the Semore YORK's and John O'QUIN's. I've been able to trace them back further. I date my YORK line in 1727 in Pipe Creek Settlement, Maryland. They moved to Orange and Randolph Counties in NC. They left Randolph Co., and moved to Grainger Co., TN, to Claiborne Co., TN, then to Benton Co., AL, Madison Co., AL, and to Jackson Co., AL before tearing out for Texas where they settled in East Texas to raise their families. Riley YORK m. Wealthy TAYLOR b. 1816 in either KY or IL. Need help with her parents and siblings! John O'QUIN was b. in 1754 in NC, moved to SC where he m. Rhoda HORTON before moving on to GA. Many of his descendants moved on to East Texas.
I'm also searching for help on my Thomas Jefferson RAINS and Sarah Elizabeth Ellen Sue "Nellie" NOLEN lines that I have traced back to Tennessee. They were married in Maury Co., TN in 1882. Both families moved west and ended up in either Texas and/or Oklahoma. Thomas Jefferson RAINS father was Joseph Luther Dunn RAINS b. 1821 in Tennessee, and his mother was Martha A. WILLIAM b. 1824 in Tennessee.
The FERGUSON's started out in Amelia County, VA in 1764. They moved from there to SC, GA, KY, AR, and on into OK before a branch of them moved to New Mexico. The Hall's on the other hand were from SC in 1855, moved to Tennessee, then into Marion Co., Arkansas, and Pontotoc and Stephen Counties in Oklahoma.
