    Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert, bedeutender Komponist der Romantik.
    Leben:

    INTRODUCTION
The Schubert Family Papers contain diaries, drawings, prints, and account books related to the immigration and livelihood of family members. There are also genealogical notebooks for families of Atchison County, Missouri, and documents dealing with the Sociality, a collective society.
    DONOR INFORMATION
The Schubert Family Papers were donated by Mildred Schubert Breiland to the State Historical Society of Missouri on 15 July 1997 (SHS Accession No. 3163).
    BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Cornelius Richard Wilhelm Schubert was born 15 January 1814, in Dessau, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1834, landing in Baltimore, and making his way to Belleville, Illinois. His mother and siblings joined him in Belleville in 1838. Cornelius married Louisa C. Bethmann of Hermann, Missouri, on 23 July 1842. Cornelius, Louisa, and their son Oswald eventually moved to Atchison County, Missouri, as a part of the Sociality colony. The Sociality was an attempt at a collective society. The Schubert family stayed on their land for a number of years, even after the failure of the colony, and had four more children. With the death of their youngest four children in 1859, they decided to rent the farm and move back to Belleville to be closer to relatives. Upon their return to Belleville, Illinois, Cornelius opened a sign and photography shop. In addition to this shop, Cornelius worked on plays, usually painting the scenery, but also occasionally acting in them. His wife Louisa would design and sew the costumes. Their sixth child, Herman, was born in Belleville in 1861. In 1862 they lost their eldest son Oswald in the Battle of Shiloh. In 1876 the sign and photography shop failed, and the family of three returned to Rock Port in Atchison County. Three months after the move, Cornelius died and the farm was left to his widow and his fifteen year-old son Hermann.

Hermann Cäsar Hannibal Schubert (1848-1911) Synopsis
This course will provide an elementary introduction to the combinatorial aspects of Schubert calculus , the part of enumerative geometry dealing with such classical varieties as Grassmannians and flag manifolds. A classical example of a Schubert calculus question is the following: Given mp subspaces of dimension p in general position in a complex vector space of dimension m+p , how many subspaces of dimension m intersect all these mp subspaces nontrivially? To be able to answer such questions, one needs to gain a concrete understanding of the structure of the cohomology ring of the corresponding variety (in the example above, it will be the Grassmannian Gr (m,m+p)
