Registered: Nov 2004 posted 01-04-2005 22:29 Greetings to everyone. I have been looking through the back archives of the forum, and even though I have seen several reference to the Temple of Neith, I don't remember seeing any substantial discussion on it so I thought we might all begin one now. Finding proof of the temple, and the pillars it was said to contain might substantiate the Atlantis story and also clear up any potential errors that might be in the translation. If the palaces in Sais had been excavated, all these misunderstandings might never have arisen or might have been solved long ago. At excavations of the University of Pennsylvania in Memphis layers of the 21st Dynasty were found directly under layers of the Ptolemaic period, according to Velikovsky. Solon in Egypt Solon made a kind of Grand Tour of ten years. Plato has visited Egypt himself. Plutarchus writes that Solon talked with 'Psenophis of Heliopolis and Senchis the Saite, the most learned Egyptian priests'. The first name is doubtlessly a form of 'Psusennes', perhaps the later Psammetichus III, the son of Amasis, who was indeed a priest but in Thebes.

Vamvas Hippocrates Chios home

  • Agatharchos. Greek mathematician. Discovered the laws of perspectives.
  • Anaxagoras of Clazomenae (480-430 B.C.). Greek philosopher. Believed that a large number of seeds make up the properties of materials, that heavenly bodies are made up of the same materials as Earth and that the sun is a large, hot, glowing rock. Discovered that the moon reflected light and formulated the correct theory for the eclipses. Erroneously believed that the Earth was flat.

  • Anaximander (610-545 B.C.). Greek astronomer and philosopher, pupil of Thales. Introduced the apeiron (infinity). Formulated a theory of origin and evolution of life, according to which life originated in the sea from the moist element which evaporated from the sun ( On Nature ). Was the first to model the Earth according to scientific principles. According to him, the Earth was a cylinder with a north-south curvature, suspended freely in space, and the stars where attached to a sphere that rotated around Earth.

French academician of the highest esteem in European academic circles, wrote the following in his major work— Ruins of Empire , page xvii, for all the racists who denied the indigenous African origin of the ancient Egyptians to read: THERE A PEOPLE NOW FORGOTTEN DISCOVERED WHILE OTHER WERE YET BARBARIANS, THE ELEMENTS OF THE ARTS AND SCIENCES. A RACE OF MEN NOW REJECTED FOR THEIR BLACK SKIN and WOOLY HAIR FOUNDED ON THE STUDY OF THE LAWS OF NATURE THOSE CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS SYSTEMS WHICH STILL GOVERN THE UNIVERSE. Isn't it rather interesting that today BLACK has become "SABLE," and WOOLLY turned "FRIZZLED" in the quotation! BLACK and WOOLLY are stated in the original edition; whereas Volney's successors found it necessary to change them in a later edition to "SABLE" and "FRIZZLED," etc. This, unfortunately, has been too long typical of " Western Scholarship ."

The Wayward Sun ABOVE: Our Milky Way Galaxy as photographed in Infrared by NASA's COBE Spaceprobe. The sun courses along the zodiac and has no direct connection to the Milky Way. Yet various cultures claim that the sun formerly moved on the Milky Way. This theme is particularly prominent in tropical Africa. For example, the west-equatorial Pygmies assert that the Milky Way is Kmvum's or Mvum's road to the sun in order to renew himself. They call it dzi ko or nwa ko, "road" or "path of the sky". The Rundi tighten the connection of the Milky Way and the sun even further, calling the Milky Way inzira y'izuba, "the sun's track". On condition that such folkloristic "wisdom" is not always meaningless, a possible explanation for such traditions could be that they preserve memories of some other bright object moving over the Milky Way, an object bright enough to qualify as a sun. This solution is recommended by the version of the Fiote of the Loango Coast, that involves a large luminary other than the sun journeying over the Milky Way: "The Star Way [Galaxy] is the road for a funeral procession of a huge star which, once, shone brighter from the sky than the Sun."

It may have been so, but there is nothing else to confirm the conjecture. He is spoken of in connection with Pythagoras and his followers, so that he seems to have been regarded as a Pythagorean. Oenopides derived most of his astronomical knowledge from the priests and astronomers of Egypt, with whom he lived for some time.
