Then, the victorious army moved on to the city of Baeza which was found empty and then to the city of Ubeda where the remain of the defeated army and both the population of Baeza and Ubeda had collected.
Ubeda was seized, its inhabitants were killed or taken as prisoners which was, according to the the Muslim text al-Marrakushi (* source 1 ), "a greater blow to the Muslims than the defeat in the battle".
