Alchemy is the name of the game for developer Gust, and has been for five titles running now. This installment, Atelier Iris ~Eternal Mana~, is the sixth in that long line, featuring the series' trademark clean, bright graphics, deep customization system, and expansive, storybook world. It is the first Atelier title to be given a North American release date and is due to wind up on domestic shores this very May. The series has always had a strong emphasis placed on customizing items and supporting the in-game community. However, Gust has decided to take a more story-driven route this time, sporting full on character development and plot scenarios. The story opens in the kingdom of Avenberry, a city set high in the heavens, where Mana is the esteemed power of its inhabitants. These inhabitants are called Alchemists, and for many years they've enjoyed a peaceful and happy life in Avenberry. But due to a number of unfortunate circumstances, Avenberry's time aloft comes to an end, and the city plummets to the surface, ending its glorious civilization. For a time, the power of Mana is lost save f a few individuals who still posses it. One such individual is the story's protagonist, Krein Kiesling. Like his grandmother, he professes the power of Alchemy. Having heard the tales of Avenberry, he sets out to discover its secrets by traveling the world in search of the lost city. The story revolves around this bold, archetypical hero and amasses within it a large number of characters including a wide variety of embodied Mana Spirits, whose role shall be explained later.

Contact us Ministry of Ukraine for Education and Science Institute of Mathematics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ukrainian Mathematical Society INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS Kyiv, August 22 - 26, 2001 SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT As it has been announced, the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Mathematical Society are organizing an International Conference on Functional Analysis. The conference will be held on August 22-26, 2001, in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The contribution of Ukrainian scientists in the development of mathematics is well-known. In particular, significant schools of functional analysis were founded by S. Banach in Lviv (after 1939), M. G. Krein in Odessa, N. I. Akhiezer in Kharkiv. This conference is the third international meeting in functional analysis held in Ukraine, after the International Conference Dedicated to 100th Birthday of S. Banach (Lviv, 1992) and Mark Krein International Conference "Operator Theory and Applications" (Kyiv-Odessa, 1997). It is a satellite conference of the Ukrainian Congress of Mathematics (Kyiv, 2001) dedicated to the 200th birthday of M. V. Ostrogradsky whose work has had a considerable impact upon the development of mathematics as a whole.

4:30 pm Central Thermal Bus for Micro and Small Satellites: Scaleability and Adaptability
ABSTRACT: Swales Aerospace is engaged in the development of a Centralized Thermal Bus (CTB), which stands to significantly increase the capability, flexibility, and scalability of a small or micro-sat bus. The CTB is a multi-evaporator hybrid loop heat pipe (MEHLHP). It combines the best qualities of both capillary pumped loops and loop heat pipes while improving operational robustness, simplifying mission modes and system deployment/startup. 4:45 pm Modelling of Damping in Small Satellite Structures Incorporating Bolted Joints
ABSTRACT: The energy dissipating capability of bolted joints in a small satellite was investigated using Finite Element (FE) analysis. It was found the energy dissipating capability of the bolted joints operating in the microslip region was quite low. The idea of using viscoelastic layer in the bolted joints was introduced to improve the energy dissipation.

The following list is a translation of names and minimal personal data for 8,500 people included in Jewish Encyclopedia of Russia (Rossiyskaya Evreiskaya Entsiclopediya); first edition; 1995, Moscow. Famous people who are listed in the book, which in fact is a biographical dictionary, were born in Russia, the USSR, the Russian Empire, or lived there. This is the first edition of this kind in Russia and a large group of specialist from Russia, Israel and other countries participated in the project. There are many more well known people in Russia to be included in the next edition of the book. We have to remember that the success of many of these people was achieved against all odds related to limited opportunities that Jews had in Russia. The translation is an attempt to inform people about this additional source available for researchers. Vitaly Charny
