You can replace any theorem you wish with "Cantor's Theorem" and your claim retains every bit of its good sense. Let me ask this question: Are there alternatives to ZFC? Could you prove cantor's theorem with cantor's proof in all of them? Alternatives in what sense? Idle daydreams? It is not clear that Cantor's argument could be carried out in an arbitrary idle daydream. In a theory of sets which seriously connects with and supports current mathematics? The answer is almost certainly yes. Honestly, I don't even know why this question is controversial. If the discussion concerns what is possible in the idle daydreams of someone who understands nothing about set theory and the nature of its relation to mathematics, it would be reasonable to put that up front.

Jourdain's paradox
Named after its discoverer, the mathematician Philip Edward Bertrand Jourdain (1879-1919). The paradox is equivalent to the sentence 'The second part of this sentence is true and the first part of this sentence is false', which contradicts itself whether the first half is true or not. However, the halves of the sentence refer indirectly to themselves, so any rule prohibiting statements that refer to themselves resolves the paradox.

Computability
  • Nature = computational process, i.e. clockwork Universe
  • more like a program than a clock
The technological revolution of the early 1900's led some scientists to believe that Nature was basically a computational process. An extension of the clockwork Universe idea, this philosophy regards the entire Universe as a gigantic information-processing system or a cosmic computer. The laws of Nature serve as the programming, the initial conditions at the origin of the Universe are the input, and events of the world are the output.
  • formalism, a philosophy of mathematics that states there is a computational procedure to prove theorems, leads Turing to device a logic machine to understand the Universe
Hilbert noted that there might be a computational procedure for proving mathematical theorems. But at the same time there were several disturbing developments associated with the concept of infinity and various logical paradoxes of self-reference (see below). Turing continued the search for a mathematical `machine', a device that could determine the truth of mathematical statements without human involvement by following a deterministic sequence of instructions. A mechanism that would settle the truth or falsity of every possible statement about numbers (and hence Nature) that could be made.
  • instead of demonstrating that the Universe was computable, Turing's machine finds that there exist uncomputable numbers

Frege, Gottlob Friedrich Ludwig: born 8th November 1848 at Wismar (Mecklenburg/Germany); died 26th July 1925 at Bad Kleinen (south of Wismar). 1) Today it is at least undisputed that Frege was the real founder of modern (mathematical) logic, i.e. he is considered the most important logician since Aristotle. 3) Furthermore Frege is considered as the founder of philosophical logic and the attitutde to analyse language under philosophical-semantical aspects (philosophy of language), which means that in this respect he can at least be considered as the grandfather of a modern, linguistically orientated analytical philosophy. ). From 1879 to 1918 he was professor at Jena - in1879 he was made extraordinary and in 1896 ordinary honorary professor. During his lifetime he received little scientific acknowledgment and he died fairly embittered.
