További csillagászati vizsgálatai során kutatta a Naprendszer eredetét, emellett foglalkoztatta a földrajzi szélesség változásának az elmélete is. A geofizikában a Föld hôtörténetét vizsgálta, 1940-ben társszerzôje volt a földrengéshullámok terjedési idejét táblázatokban közlô kötetnek, s elsôként feltételezte, hogy a Föld magja folyékony. Megmagyarázta a monszunok és a tengeri szelek eredetét, kimutatta, hogy a ciklonok döntô szerepet játszanak a légkör globális cirkulációjában. Jeffreys valószínûségszámítással és a matematikai fizika általános módszereivel is foglalkozott. Elnyerte a Királyi Csillagászati Társaság aranyérmét (1937) és a londoni Royal Society (Királyi Társaság) királyi érmét (1948).
