Ioan Gruffudd Lined Up For 'James Bond 21'?
[Thursday, November 25th, 2004]
Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd is thought to be the only actor being considered to play the Bond role in James Bond 21
Gruffudd is said to be deep in talks with EON Productions to take over the role from Pierce Brosnan.
A 'top industry source' told Moviehole.net, "Naturally, others may float into the mix, but at the moment, he's the only guy that EON are seriously considering for the role." More On 'Casino Royale'...

BellaOnline's Movie Mistakes Editor The Face of the Next James Bond From 1962’s “Dr. No” to “Die Another Day” in 2002, Ian Fleming’s tale of British super agent, James Bond, has thrilled moviegoers of all ages. Five actors, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and, most recently, Pierce Brosnan, have been the embodiment of the suave and debonair 007. Yet, with the next feature film, “Casino Royale”, slated to hit theaters in November 2006, the identity of the next James Bond remains more of a mystery than some of the recent “who done its” that have been released. What are some Hollywood names that have been mentioned as possible contenders to saying the infamous line “shaken, not stirred”?
Hugh Jackman
One name that has been on top of everyone’s list has been Hugh Jackman. The Australian actor has been virtually everywhere in recent years. Besides doing stints in theater, for which he won a Tony award, Hugh is probably best known for his portrayal of Wolverine a.k.a. Logan in the “X-Men” series. His upcoming projects include “The Fountain” with Rachel Weisz set to be released later this year as well as “Superman Returns” and the third “X-Men” installment set for release next year.

Remarkable Physicists: From Galileo to Yukawa
by Ioan James
In our day-to-day lives we all use, and are in fact dependent on, physics. For example, all of modern (and not so modern!) technology relies on our knowledge of underlying physical principles. However, physics is also one of the most commonly feared sciences, with many people put off by the complex details which have developed alongside the subject's sophistication. In this book, James sets out to provide an account of the development of modern physics that is suitable for everyone, regardless of physics background. He does this by focusing on the people who made the breakthroughs, rather than the breakthroughs themselves.

Remarkable Mathematicians: From Euler to Von Neumann
It is not uncommon for physics students to know more about the history of physics than mathematics students do about the history of mathematics. Physical laws often come with a name attached; mathematics constitutes a more homogenous structure, and thus tracing parentage can be harder. For these or other reasons, people tend to see mathematics as a series of discoveries without a face. Ioan James' book

Ioan rules out Bond role Jul 19 2005
Paul Maunder, South Wales Echo FANTASTIC Four star Ioan Gruffudd wants to don a Stetson and cowboy boots in the Wild West but says he's too young to play James Bond. Cardiff-born Gruffudd revealed his childhood ambition to play a cowboy in a Western at the premiere of his new blockbuster Fantastic Four in London, yesterday. The 32-year-old, who plays stretchy superhero Mr Fantastic, scotched persistent rumours that he might be lined up as the next James Bond. "One thing I would really love to do is play a cowboy. I've always wanted to do that," he said. "I'd love to do a western, with maybe someone like Ridley Scott directing. "It's very flattering but there's no truth in me being lined up to play Bond. "I would love to play the part but I think I'm 10 years too young," he added. Top Back E-mail to a friend Printable version ... More What's On news

Is Ioan the perfect Bond? Mar 24 2004
Karen Price, The Western Mail JAMES BOND is the film role that young boys dream of and has made stars of Sean Connery, Roger Moore and the latest 007, Pierce Brosnan. Now it looks like Ioan Gruffudd could be in with a chance of achieving his long-held dream of playing the super spy. But although the Cardiff-born actor was once a firm favourite to take over as Bond, Oscar-nominee Jude Law and actors Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen, Jeremy Northam and Paul Bettany are more recent serious contenders. Brosnan revealed yesterday that he is unsure whether he will star in another Bond film, claiming the movies' producers "don't know what to do" even though the next installment is in the pipeline. So it is likely that the search may soon be on for a younger replacement. Gruffudd, 30, has made no secret of the fact that 007 is a role he would love to take on.

Jos: we can do this within WSMO4J Dieter: the reasoners are very hidden on http://www.wsmo.org/wsml/wsml-syntax, we might restructure the page next deadline for 16.2: July 1 28.1, what's the status? Uwe: the deliverable is not continued, should be changed in the activity sheet 20.1, is May 15 version final? Axel: yes Jacek: should be called "Final draft", not "Working draft" Jos will send email to Titi to update the listing of final drafts TOPIC: SparQL presentation (Cristina Feier) - only query language, not protocol ... Axel: is ?x and $x the same variable? Cristina: yes ... Axel: why does SparQL allow literals as subjects? Cristina: because SparQL expects that RDF might add this capability ... Michael Kifer: do we have examples of using blank nodes in the query? Cristina: no examples, also, blank nodes in the query cannot be in the results ... Michael Kifer: what does period and semicolon mean? Cristina: period ends triple, semicolon means repeated (and omitted) subject ... Jos: you can put any variables in the select statement and by default they aren't bound? Cristina: yes, and some may get bound only from optional patterns Michael Kifer: what's supposed to be a result of the query? Cristina: table with nulls ... Axel: why does an RDF query language return a table? Jacek: there are queries that return a graph Cristina: yes, and SELECT just returns a table ... Cristina: it's not yet defined what exactly the set of accessible graphs in multi-graph queries should be ... Michael Kifer: so what happens when an unbound variable is used in CONSTRUCT? Cristina: don't know Jos: the triples that would contain that unbound variable are not included in the resulting graph, it's just lost ... Jacek: what's the purpose of app:myDate in slide 28? Cristina: to change the format to xs:dateTime Axel: and can only three variables occur in CONSTRUCT? Cristina: no, it can be any graph ... Axel: does DESCRIBE only return the triples whose subject is the described resource? Cristina: they say it depends on the implementation, it's information related to the described resource ... Jacek: can ASK use WHERE? Cristina: you use any graph patterns, same as SELECT ... Jos: is it defined that a function can have different numeric types, like add(double, decimal)? Cristina: it would be cast to the most specific type Cristina: they have a specific example for this, promoting the type ... Axel: does Jena support full SPARQL or only part? Cristina: not certain Jos: we can expect only subset support Cristina: the language is still evolving anyway Axel: do you know what the progress expectations are? Cristina: they have a lot of comments about future work Jos: is there no more negation in SPARQL? Cristina: I seem to remember a mention of negation as failure Cristina: you can test whether a vaiable is unbound
