German physicist Werner Heisenberg is best known for his discovery of the uncertainty principle. This principle states that it is impossible to measure the exact position and the momentum of a given body at the same time. Heisenberg was a leader in the emerging field of quantum theory, and his work earned him the 1932 Nobel Prize in physics. Science Source/Photo Researchers, Inc. The accuracy of a measurement is given by the uncertainty in the result; if the measurement is exact, the uncertainty is zero. The effect of this principle is to convert the laws of physics into statements about relative probabilities instead of absolute certainties. In 1926, Heisenberg developed a form of the quantum theory quantum theory

Werner Karl Heisenberg
Who Was Werner Heisenberg ? As a result of the recently increased public debate about the person and character of my father, stimulated by Michael Frayn's Tony Award winning Broadway play "Copenhagen", I decided to present some pertinent material that highlights his integrity and humanity. It may help anyone who is interested arrive at a better understanding of my father's thinking and actions, just as his own account in "Physics and Beyond" "Inner Exile - Recollections of a life with Werner Heisenberg" Jochen Heisenberg.
