james NOAH MCMURRIN was born July 31, 1946 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina . He married JUANITA HARNEY, daughter of JAKE HARNEY and glenie H..

The McMURRINs in the USA Created 21 January 2000/last update 22 January 2002 A large family descended from David McMurrin who spell the surname McMurrain and McMurrian is covered on The McMurrai(ia)ns in the USA site Sterling M. McMurrin (d.1996) was a well-known intellectual and professor at the University of Utah from the 1940's to the 1980's. He served as U.S. Commissioner of Education under President John F. Kennedy. In his work with the Aspen Institute of the Humanities, he came to know many of the pillars of the political and cultural establishment of the United States. Yet for all of his eminence in the secular world, McMurrin will probably be remembered for his writing and influence on the Mormon Church. He described himself as a "loyal heretic:" he openly expressed his disbelief in many fundamental doctrines of Mormonism. But he really never left Utah and was always sympathetic to the church when contacted for comment by the national media. (extracted from Matters of Conscience: Conversations With Sterling M. McMurrin THE FAMILY OF JOHN McMURRIN and MARY CRAIG There are still a number of McMurrins in Utah and Iowa and most are desendants of the following family: First Generation 1. JOHN McMURRIN b. 1758, Belfast, Antrim, m. MARY CRAIG.

Contributors and Contributing
In such a short time this site has grown tremendously it truly defies belief. I'd like to thank all the contributors you guys have done so much research and provided so much encouragement I couldn't possibly thank you enough.
If you're wondering about how to contribute, don't worry! Contributions are *ALWAYS* welcome, especially since the Lusitania is not an as-well-published subject as the Titanic . Other valuable information would be:
  • Information and image files of passengers
Who was in which lifeboat Who picked up by which rescue vessel Histories of each rescue vessel List of recovered bodies and burial places
Any background info on WWI Deck plans with cabin numbers and occupants Postcards and any other Cunard memorabilia of that period would be helpful.
So if you have wealth to share, please do so! Any help would be greatly, tremendously appreciated! I don't know if any of you contributors would be willing to have other Lusitania researchers contact you, but if you do, let me know. I won't put up your email addresses for the spam-bot harvesters, though, so I'll try to think of some other way to set that up.

Matthew Jr., and A. Wedderburn Appendix 3 ... Sources Appendix - Biographical Notes on John and William Black The Graves papers, properly called , New Brunswick Political Biography , held at the Public Archives of New Brunswick gives the following concise account of John Black: "John Black (1764-1823) was born and educated in Aberdeen, Scotland of a family prominent in business circles in Aberdeen. He had several brothers: Alexander, William, James, and Andrew; also two sisters, Margaret married William Wedderburn, and Elizabeth, who died unmarried." The Dictionary of Canadian Biography contributes a great deal: "Little is known about John Black's early life, but the Blacks of Aberdeen were a well-established mercantile family which as early as 1745 had interests in the manufacture of linen and woollens and in other local interests such as herring-salting and lime burning. Black arrived at Saint John, N.B. in 1786 as an Admiralty agent, entrusted with the securing of masts and other choice timber, and as a representative of Blair and Glenie, a Scottish timber-trading firm that had moved its headquarters to London in order to tender for Admiralty contracts.
