Main August 09, 2005 Two More for Francoeur Jeff Francouer is two for two so far tonight, raising his batting average to .418. He's 33 for 79, which is still a very small sample size, but the Braves should be happy with the results so far. He's yet to draw a walk, but he's been plunked, so his OBA is higher than his batting average. In addition, 16 of his 33 hits were for extra bases. He's a much better solution in right field than Brian Jordan. Update : Francoeur ends the game four for four, all singles. He's now batting .432 with an .827 slugging percentage. 35. Baseball Musings: Francoeur Vs. Murton
Jeff francoeur is playing right field for the Braves today. Visit BuschStadium Buy St. louis Cardinal tickets and other baseball tickets for the Cubs
http://www.baseballmusings.com/archives/010458.php
Main July 28, 2005 Francoeur vs. Murton Two youngsters are making a big impression in their first 30 or so at bats. Jeff Francoeur is playing right field for the Braves today. Through six innings, he's two for three, making him 15 for 33 on the season. He hasn't drawn a walk, but if you hit .455, your on-base average is good enough that you don't need to draw walks. Both hits today were home runs, bringing his slugging percentage to an even 1.000. If Jose Reyes were hitting like this, no one would complain about his lack of walks either. Up in Chicago, Matt Murton is drawing walks. He had five in his first 27 at bats entering today. He had a single in his first plate appearance this afternoon, bringing his batting average to .500. So far his power consists of two doubles, but he'll move plenty of runners if he's getting a hit every other at bat. I'd be much more interested in Francoeur, however. He's two years younger than Murton. At 23, Matt is not old, but at 21, Jeff could have a tremendous career ahead of him. Posted by David Pinto at 03:09 PM Rookies TrackBack (0) Comments If the Sox hadn't won the series last year, you'd be hearing a lot of complaints over Murton (who go dealt w/ Nomah). Sox could sure use him now with Nixon on the DL...

What do you think? The t r u t h o u t Town Meeting is in progress. Join the debate Go to Original Climate: Doubt Is Lifted
By Louis-Gilles Francoeur
Le Devoir Wednesday 08 June 2005 Eleven academies of science demand action against global warming. The academies of science of all the G-8 countries, as well as those of the three largest oil consumers among developing countries - China, India, and Brazil, made an unprecedented political gesture yesterday when they signed a common declaration in London asserting that the doubt entertained by certain people with regard to climate change does not justify inaction, and that, on the contrary, a planetary action plan to conjure this global threat away must be embarked upon immediately. The declaration by the best scientists of the most important countries of the planet, whose spokesperson did not hesitate to stigmatize the United States' inaction, was immediately followed by a declaration from the American president, George W. Bush, in Washington. The latter attempted to attenuate this new international pressure by declaring that "with regard to climate change, he had always said that it was a serious long term problem that must be addressed." The American president nevertheless did not specify what he meant by "long term." He had just come out from a meeting with his ally Tony Blair, Prime Minister of Great Britain and President of the next G-8 conference, which will take place July 6 and 7 at Gleneagles in Scotland. Tony Blair had brought up climate change and aid to developing countries as priorities for the day.
