ANDREW E. SMITH Senior Lecturer in Physics MA Theoretical Physics, Cambridge, 1975 MSc Physics, Copenhagen, 1978 PhD Theoretical Physics, Copenhagen, 1982 Phone +61 (3) 9905 3699 FAX +61 (3) 9905 3637 Email: andrew.e.smith@spme.monash.edu.au RESEARCH INTERESTS Dr Smith's current research interests include computational determinations of the electronic and structural properties of microstructures, including surfaces and small clusters of metals and semiconductors. Previous work has elucidated the reflection of electrons from periodic media using fundamental concepts in quantum physics. In particular, it has centered on the nature of both the elastic and inelastic potential experienced by reflection electrons, but has also been extended to other wave forms.
