Carol Henry - Artist Statement "In the same way a gardener prepares and sows the soil, carefully allowing a plant to develop and blossom, I have been cultivating a growth spirit inside myself. "As a child I was fascinated with organic design. It mesmerized me. At this time there was a powerful inspirational energy welling up inside me. Coming from a long line of farmers who were attendant to the seasons and the cycle of growth, I had been given a special vision. As a young artist with a desire to communicate this vision, organic design became my passion. I continued to experiment with natural light and color by drawing in the fields instead of hoeing. "My early love for organic design eventually led to a degree in fine art. Combining fine art photography with graphic design became my ultimate goal. My research and determination for purity was ultimately rewarded.

Thierry Henry Aragones fined for Henry remarks Clubs could be banned over racism Thierry Henry has called for Fifa to take a moral lead by imposing greater sanctions against Spain coach Luis Aragones for his racist comments. Henry was angered by the Spanish Football Association's decision to fine Aragones just 3000 euros (£2,060). "It's up to Fifa to step in - they are the only ones who can do something," Henry told The Sun newspaper. "It is laughable. The Spanish FA fined him for the sake of it, not because they felt he said something wrong." Aragones was handed the fine on Tuesday after making racist remarks about Henry to Arsenal team-mate and Spanish international Jose Antonio Reyes last October. The fine was much less than the expected amount of about £22,000 or even the suspension of his coaching licence.

The exhibition is organized into five major themes: "The American Eden," "American Classicism," "The American Aesthetic Movement," "American Impressionism" and "Early 20th Century American Art." The influences of other cultures on American art, and the contributions of immigrant artists in American design are also reflected in the exhibition, which continues through May 23, 1999, at the Caroline Wiess Law Building of the MFAH, located at 1001 Bissonnet. Romantic landscape paintings, including Indian Pass (1847) by Thomas Cole , who is recognized as a founder of what became known as the Hudson River School of landscape painting, are featured, as well as American portraiture, exemplified by paintings by John Singer Sargent and William Merritt Chase . Also included are examples of gilded-age cabinetmaking in New York with pieces attributed to Pottier and Stymus, and the Herter Brothers; and examples of early 20th-century American abstraction, including paintings by

Callanwolde Fine Arts Center
Henry Hornbostel
This was originally the Tudor home of Charles Howard Candler (1878-1957), the oldest son of Asa Griggs Candler, founder of the Coca-Cola Company (in 1892) and its president from 1916-23. The name is a combination of the Irish word "Callan" (for Candler) and the Anglo-Saxon word "wold" (for woods). The house was saved from destruction by the Callanwlde Foundation (initially an ad hoc committee of the Druid Hills Association) and is now on the National Registry of Historic Places.
