Clarence Football Club History The Clarence Football Club has a long history going back to before 1884 when it was known as "Bellerive". At that time Victorian Aussie Rules was already over 30 years old. The first Bellerive team was made up of 7 families of brothers playing at the Bellerive paddock. There were no organised rosters and the club simply arranged a match against another group such as Railway or Post Office. It wasn't until 1903 that the first proper roster game was played in the new Bellerive Football Association and won the first premiership. Interestingly, through these early years the club didn't have a coach - the captain did nay coaching that was needed and apparently that wasn't very much. Players also paid the club to play each week and most of that went to pay the umpires. How times have changed !

Moderator : Bill's credits are not confined to acting. His alter ego, "Art Barnes," is one half of the infamous demented novelty-song act Barnes & Barnes, perpetrators of the notorious song '"Fish Heads." He is an accomplished solo recording artist, composer of television and film music, and an author of graphic novels. This page is dedicated to all Polio survivors famous or not, many who are now facing the second half of their lives with a condition known as Post Polio Syndrome ...unfair as that is... and are joined by others who also had Polio , but who are just a little more recognizable... Polio survivor, Bessie “Gertrude” Brooks , has lived most of her life in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was 100 years old on March 30, 2005. [Congratulations from us all!] She is presently the oldest living Polio survivor (female), having had the disease when she was three years old. Bessie went on to marry and raised 7 children with her husband until his death. She is one terrific lady, and has family and friends that love her and take care of her. May she have many more happy years. I am also honoring, William H. Remaley, who was born in a small town called Parryville, Pennsylvania in 1904. He was stricken with Polio in 1905 just when he was taking his first steps. He is possibly the oldest living polio survivor (male). His daughter writes proudly about her father in an article on the Lincolnshire Post Polio Network Website. Click here to read more about this now famous polio survivor.
