BY AIR:
The closest airport is Pisa Airport Galileo Galilei . Presently there are daily flights to Milano Malpensa, Roma Fiumicino, London, Paris, and a few other towns in Italy and in Europe. You can reach Pisa from other destinations with connecting flights via Roma Fiumicino and Milano Malpensa.
The Peretola airport in Firenze has daily flights from several Italian and European towns. It is connected to the town center by buses and taxis. The main railway station Firenze Santa Maria Novella is very close to the bus terminus. The train to Pisa (every 30'-60') takes approx. 1 hour. Another possibility is to go by taxi to the small (and closer) railway station Firenze Rifredi, where almost all trains directed to Pisa stop.
Other possibilities:
From Genova Airport:
reach the railway station Genova Piazza Principe, then take the train (2 hours).
From Roma Fiumicino:
take the suburban train to Monterotondo/Fara Sabina (every 15'-30') up to Roma Ostiense, where almost all trains of the Pisa-Roma line stop. There are also direct trains (every 30'-60') to Roma Termini. From Roma Termini or Ostiense you can reach Pisa in approx. 3 hours.
BY TRAIN:
The main railway station is PISA CENTRALE. All trains stop there. There are two smaller stations, PISA SAN ROSSORE, in the north-west part of the town, where only a few (Regional) trains stop and PISA AEROPORTO at the airport.

Abstracts Description: Modern technical means coupled with state of the art mathematics are promising to provide quantitative imaging information about structures and phenomena long assumed to be inaccessible to imaging. This worskhop will consider the mathematical enablers required as imaging pushes to the new frontiers including imaging the electron wave functions of atoms and molecules, mapping single electron spins in a semiconductor or macromolecule, and fathoming the spatiotemporal state of huge distributed networks such as the internet or power grids. Specific modalities to be studied include network tomography; molecular, nanoscale, and quantum state imaging, magnetic resonance force microscopy; and cryogenic x-ray tomography. We also consider the mathematical approaches to building information from the synthesis and fusion of multiple imaging modalities. [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) Defense Advanced DARPA http://www.darpa.mil/mto/people/pms/healy.html Schedule Participants Program Application ... Abstracts Description: The last decade has seen unprecedented advances in the large-scale deployment, coordination, and monitoring of ubiquitous imaging systems in diverse and complex environments and serving a wide variety of purposes. Over the past 50 years a wide variety of novel imaging systems have been developed to work in different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum (from radio waves to X-rays) and which often differ significantly in format and function from the conventional visible imaging systems. These new imaging systems have been developed to serve a huge spectrum of applications ranging from astronomy, microscopy, medicine, and defense. Major government and industry research programs currently seek to develop and demonstrate a true revolution in imaging by implementing an intelligent integration of the advancing capabilities of the individual wavefront, detection, and processing subsystems. Integration of Sensing and Processing (ISP) will leverage mathematical advances the way an earlier generation exploited mathematical ideas to create the foundations of Digital Signal Processing (DSP). However, in ISP advanced mathematics will play an even larger role, with an impact that now transcends the digital processor subsystem and extends across all sensor/exploitation subsystems. Fundamental advances in information science, optimization across subsystem boundaries, physical layer modeling, and real time adaptive control will be required to enable imaging systems integrating processing functionality directly into the front end of the sensor to support reduction of data dimensionality prior to digitization.
