a shopping mall and were never claimed. His buddy got adopted locally andAndrew was still looking. He now lives with his Mom and cocker brother edward.
http://members.petfinder.org/~NY166/ht.htm
Meet some of our cockers adopted in 2004 from CockerPalsRescue and read their happy tales!
Sweet Pea came from a shelter in upstate NY and was taken out of the shelter by a group of wonderful people who worked with the shelter. They then contacted CockerPalsRescue. Sweet Pea was blind from cataracts. She is 3 years old. CockerPals then held an on line auction to raise money for her cataract surgery. As a result of the auction and donations the money was raised and SP had surgery at Cornell University, on 2/6/04 to remove her cataracts. The wonderful surgeon there donated his fee! My most endearing picture is taking Sweet Pea into Cornell the first time- she walked in very tentative, head down, feeling her way. When we went back for a check up she strutted in, head held high and happy, confident little girl. UPDATE 7/16/04 Sweet Pea was adopted!! She lives in CT with her Mom, Darlene, and 3 cocker sisters, Hannah, Mollie and Maya. She is now known as Sophie and is very loved and happy.
Morag's Story Morag lost her home when her "Dad" passed away and her "Mom" decided to return to Ireland. She is a happy, affectionate, somewhat shy little girl who is getting used to being and "only child" in her new home. Her folks adore her!

Pseudodoxia Epidemica; or, Enquiries into very many received tenents and commonly presumed truths Woodcut head- and tailpieces and initials. T.H. for Edward Dod, 1646. Folio. Contemporary calf, ruled in blind, label missing. With the licence leaf and final blank. Spine and corners rubbed and neatly repaired at head and foot, joints cracked and occasional spotting to the text, hole at blank margin of licence leaf and title-page, otherwise a very nice copy; early manuscript annotations to end-papers, with the bookplate of Lawrence Strangman. Wing B5159; Keynes 73; Wellcome Library 35679 / 23631483.
Browne's most substantial work in which he applies his brilliant scientific mind to a wealth of common misconceptions, at the same time providing a fascinating account of popular superstition and tradition. The book came to be known as Browne's "Vulgar Errors". It was the result of many years of experimental investigation and is also hugely entertaining.

HOME CARLY JENNIFER EDWARD ... LAW SCHOOL About Edward: I am married and have two awesome children: a boy and a girl, and I work full time for Regent University. EDWARD March 29 I agree with Carly, this semester has felt like being in a whirlwind and I am looking forward to having the exams behind me. When you start law school no one ever tells you what the spring is going to be like time wise. One day your celebrating Easter and the very next your turning in your appellate brief. One thing I learned this year is that next spring break I will be reading instead of tanning. Blizzard '05 Still elated about passing all of my classes last semester and now reality has set in - there is still a long way to go. Our first Legal Research and Writing assignment is already due this week and already I feel like I am behind. To make matters worse I went to New York on a business trip for the University which turned into a 4 day fiasco. Unfortunately, the weekend I was there was the Blizzard of '05. I was stuck in the city for two extra days for some a pleasure, but for a law student without all of his books a disaster. On top of that the conditions outside made walking around and seeing the city a most un-pleasurable experience. Anyway, I made it back safely - no thanks to my cabbie - and need to get back on track. Thank God - I Passed! Finals are over and the grades are in and I have never gone through such a range of emotions in such a short period of time in my whole life. First there is the tension and anxiety that builds up to and through finals, then there is the feeling of relief immediately after finals, immediately after that - exhaustion. Then you wait, and wait, and wait. All over the Christmas break, in the back of my mind were a little antagonist and protagonist voice - both of whom were not welcome - discussing how I did on the exams. Finally, the day comes the grades are posted. The voices get louder, and then I go to check my grades. The minute my grades pop up I am amazed, I passed. Afterward I was elated, I felt like I had just won and Oscar award. And now I will make my thank you speech.

Want a general pal and pet? Where can anybody get one that s better? (I m noknocker) Than a really firstclass cocker! by edward Anthony - 1947
http://www.cybrtyme.com/personal/lisa/boomer.htm
Sir Boomerang Rex "Boomer" Boomer was born on December 19, 1989.
His sire was "Sir Korkindale Kidd" and his dam was "Keith's Kandace."
I received Boomer as a birthday present from my parents.
He remains the best birthday present I have ever received or will ever receive. Sadly, Boomer died on April 20, 2002 at the age of 12. Up until the day he died, he was extremely loving and just as playful as he was when he was a puppy. He is very much missed.
A Little About Cocker Spaniels
This breed was developed several hundred years ago from a common ancestor of today's spaniels. This breed was divided into water and land spaniels, the latter was further divided into small and large spaniels. From the small spaniels the Cocker was created, and was known for its ability to flush ground birds. The breed is still used for hunting today, although it is mainly seen as a family pet. The name "Cocker" comes from the woodcock, a game bird these spaniels flushed particularly well. Today, the Cocker Spaniel serves primarily as a companion and glamorous show dog. It can also be used for hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogging, and agility. The Special Collections Department's noteworthy holdings in the history of books and printing, which now span the period from the very earliest printers' manuals to those of the 20th century and include the productions of fine private presses as well, have been strengthened in recent years by the acquisitions of the collections of three artists of the book Warren Chappell, Oscar Ogg , and Willis W. Tompkins. From April 22 through August 31, 1978, the Rare Book Department presented a major exhibition entitled "Printing, Calligraphy, Wood Engraving, and Book Illustration" to celebrate the presentation of the Chappell, Ogg, and Tompkins Collections to the University Library. These three superb separate collections relating to the book arts came to the Library through the generosity of donors Warren and Lydia Chappell, Mrs. Margaret W. Ogg, and Mr. Willis W. Tompkins. Chappell Collection Bookplate The books, manuscripts, and printing artifacts displayed from the Warren Chappell Collections were selected to demonstrate Mr. Chappell's wide-ranging accomplishments in the graphic arts from the 1930's to the present. The items included many of the several hundred books he has illustrated and designed for Alfred A. Knopf, Little, Brown, Random House, and other publishers; works he has written, such as

Forty Centuries of Ink
by David N. Carvalho Terms Contents Preface Chapter I ... Chapter XXXII Chapter XI
Ancient Ink Treatises.
HE literature of the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries on the subject of black and colored ink formulas, secret inks, etc., is both diversified and of considerable importance. The following authors and citations are deemed the most noteworthy: John Baptista Porta, of Naples, born A. D. 1445 and died A. D. 1515, is best known as the inventor of the "camera obscuro;" was also the author of many MSS. books compiled; he says, "As the results of discussions of long years held at my own house which is known as de Secreti, and into which none can enter unless he claim to be an inventor of new discoveries." Two of these treatises which were extant in the first half of the seventeenth century, dated respectively 1481 and 1483, dwell at great length on SECRET inks and specifically mention as translated into the English of the time "sowre galls in white wine," and "vitriol;" repeating Italian formulas pertaining to the "Secreta" of the twelfth century. About secret ink he tells us: "There are many and almost infinite ways to write things of necessity, that the Characters shall not be seen, unless you dip them into waters, or put them near the fire, or rub them with dust, or smeer them over.
