Stephen Senn's Homepage World wide web. The litmus paper of social relationships. If your boyfriend finds this interesting you need a lover with more bandwidth. 'Surfing the web' . A glamorous and inaccurate term that geeks have invented for their favourite pastime. Should be called 'golfing the links' on the grounds that it is slow, boring, circular and practised by f**ts. Guernsey McPearson The author (as callow youth) and friends (John Burkill, Conrad Dixon, John Masters). The mature student in the picture is Conrad Dixon 1927-2000, then studying economic history at Exeter , formerly Chief Superintendent Dixon, founder and leader of the so-called "Scruffy Squad" an anti-terrorism unit. He later took a doctorate on the working conditions of merchant seamen. He authored a dozen books for yachtsmen one of which remained in print for thirty years. A truly remarkable man, who was, of course, our team-captain. The pages here are of three sorts: 1. Professional, covering statistical consultancy or research or my pharmaceutical statistics links or my books Cross-over Trials in Clinical Research Statistical Issues in Drug Development or Dicing with Death 2. Recreational, covering my outdoor interests, in particular

    Church Society Trust
Church Society Trust holds rights of patronage for a number of parishes in the Church of England. In these places the Trust has the right to present a minister to the parish. Current vacancies Vicar for St. John's Egham in the Diocese of Guildford Forms and profile available online Closing date 1 September 2005 Chaplaincy for Christ Church, Dusseldorf in the Diocese of Europe See also news page Procedures In practice a parish will draw up a profile of the sort of minister they are looking for and the Trust will seek, after serious prayer and consideration, to direct one or more suitable men to the parish for interview. Sometimes the post will be advertised, though this is at the discretion of the Patrons. When the parish approves the individual and this is likewise agreed by the Bishop then the Trust, as patron, will in due course present the person to become the minister. In many cases the Trust is not the sole patron of a parish and therefore works with others (or has a turn) in seeking suitable candidates. In many more instances the rights of patrons have been suspended by a pastoral scheme and in this case the Bishop has the right of appointing a 'priest-in-charge'. In this case neither patron nor parish have any right although the House of Bishops code of practice indicates that both should be involved in the appointment as if their rights were not suspended.

    Journal : Celia Edwards (London)
I first heard about the Magistrate Shadowing Scheme while reading an article published in the Times newspaper in July last year (2001). I rang the Times straight away to find out more information about this innovative and powerful project. I was referred to the Operation Black Vote (OBV) website. I was fascinated by OBV's projects which aimed to assure a wide participation of ethnic minority groups in both the political and legal processes. I decided to apply for the Shadowing Scheme, and was later delighted to be chosen to be part of the London scheme alongside seven other shadowers. We had a press launch in November 2001, and this was a wonderful experience. I had a chance to meet not only the other shadowers, but also leading public figures such as Mr Harry Mawdsley, the Chairman of the Council, Magistrate Association, and Baroness Patricia Scotland. Baroness Scotland's speech was very encouraging and enlightening. The next step to follow was the initial contact with my mentor magistrates at South Western Magistrate Court.
