Paul Bachmann 's father was a Lutheran minister. Paul was brought up in a strict home where his modest nature was encouraged, and where he became an enthusiastic and highly talented musician. Paul attended a Gymnasium at which he appears to have had some difficulty with mathematics. His mathematical talents, however, came to the fore under the excellent mathematics teacher Karl Schellback and he decided to study mathematics at university. His health at this stage was not good and in order to recover from tuberculosis he was advised to spend some time in Switzerlad, which he did before beginning his university education. Dirichlet who had just left Berlin to succeed to Gauss Dedekind who had only a few years earlier been awarded his doctorate under Gauss 's supervision. Bachmann returned to Berlin where he received a doctorate in 1862 for a thesis on

B C D ... Z by birthday from the calendar Credits and feedback Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973) Austrian poet, dramatist, and novelist, a leading voice in post-war German literature. Bachmann ceased to write poetry in the 1960s and focused on prose. In these later works feminist themes came to the fore. Bachmann was a reclusive, but socially engaged writer. During most of the fifties and from 1965 onward, she lived in Rome. Bachmann a member of a committee that opposed atomic weapons, signed a declaration against the Vietnam war, lectured on questions of poetry, and gave readings of her work. "Her apartment was meticulously clean, but gave off a faint "old-woman" smell which she was not aware of and which put Leo Jordan to flight, apart from the fact that he had no time to lose and no idea what to talk about with his eighty-five-year-old mother. Sometimes, seldom, he had been amused - that much Franziska knew - namely, when he was having a relationship with a married woman, because then old Frau Jordan had gone without sleep and made strange, convoluted allusions, trembling for his safety: she believed that the married men who wives Leo Jordan was living with were dangerous and jealous and bloodthirsty, and she wasn't able to calm down until he married Franziska, who did not have a jealous husband lurking in the bushes but was young and cheerful, an orphan, admittedly not from an educated family, but at least with a brother who had gone to college."

A Very Particular Voice
Georgina Paul
reflects on why Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973) should be so neglected by English readers. Of all the most significant German-language writers of the post-1945 period, Ingeborg Bachmann is probably the least read and talked about among English-language readers. She is beginning to make an impact in the United States, where her works have gradually been appearing in English translation for a little over ten years now. In the UK, by contrast, her name is barely known outside university German departments. This state of affairs is mystifying to anyone acquainted with the German book market, where the apparently inexhaustible fascination of this most charismatic woman intellectual is still fuelling major, often controversial, publications year in year out, nearly three decades after her death. Bachmann shot to fame in Germany after her first reading at a meeting of the Gruppe 47 in 1952. Hailed as one of the great lyric talents of the postwar years for her collections Die gestundete Zeit Borrowed Time , 1953) and Invocation of the Great Bear Wherever we turn in the storm of roses

13. Vorlesung vom 12.2.1998: Ingeborg Bachmann - Paul Celan
  • Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973)

Bachmann diagram Achievement Biography Paul Bachmann studied at Berlin, then Göttingen where he attended lectures by Dirichlet and became a close friend of Dedekind who was a fellow student. He received a doctorate in 1862 for a thesis on group theory under Kummer 's supervision. He was professor at Breslau and then Münster. His most important work is a complete survey of number theory giving both the results and an evaluation of the methods of proof. Bachmann also introduced the so called Bachmann diagrams. Up to the 1990's they were popular amongst analysts to further enhance their methodologies in analyzing program development. This method propagated the structural analysis. Here is a simple example. In this example the question is: when can I buy a car.
