WELCOME TO MY WEB SITE Archie Alexander Design and Construction Engineer Archie Alexander, a design and construction engineer, left his stamp on the landscape of America by building bridges, freeways, airfields, railroad trestles and power plants. Born in Iowa, Alexander attended the State University and received an engineering degree in 1912. After several years as a design engineer, he and a former classmate established their own engineering firm and constructed major projects across the Nation. Starting at home, they built the heating plant and powerhouse at the University of Iowa, a sewage treatment plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan, an airfield in Tuskegee, Alabama, and the Tidal Basin bridge and seawall and the Whitehurst Freeway in Washington, D.C. Alexander received many awards during the course of his career. At the centennial celebration of the University of Iowa in 1947, he was named one of its outstanding alumni. In 1954, President Eisenhower honored him with the appointment as Territorial Governor of the Virgin Islands. E-mail: ehaynie@swbell.net

GMAF NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2001
Welcome to the GMAF Newsletter! We pray it will encourage you in your Martial Arts and Outreach for Christ. Thoughts from the Master "It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." Jesus Christ "But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye have been saved): and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places IN Christ Jesus." The Apostle Paul Wisdom Notes "O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me." Psalm 139:1 "Known By God" by Pastor Mark McGee These are times that try men's souls. People around the civilized world feel small, vulnerable, breakable, alone. They share fears and anxiety openly. They weep easily. They search for answers to life's deepest questions. The message we have is that they are known by God. They are not alone. God knows them and loves them. They are important in His Sight. He watches over His children. King David of Israel was often in battle. He knew the fears and challenges of war too well. He often cried out for God's Grace and Mercy. At the darkest points in David's life, God reminded David that he was known, loved and cared for.

Chase Ends With Arrests In Convention Center
By JULIE PACE and ANTHONY McCARTNEY The Tampa Tribune
Published: Aug 8, 2005
TAMPA - About 12 hours after his release from jail, Bryan Donnell Dixon was in a very different setting: hiding from police in the basement of the Tampa Convention Center as about 600 Pentecostal worshippers convened upstairs. Tampa police said Dixon, 18, and Reginald Preston Jr., 20, stole a red Ford Taurus near West Shore Boulevard. About 10:30 Sunday morning, an officer tried to stop the car after spotting it near North Lois Avenue and West Laurel Street. Instead, the driver led police on a chase that ended when the occupants ditched the car outside the convention center and ran inside through a service entrance in the Channelside Drive tunnel. Police blocked the convention center's entrances while worshippers in town for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World convention gathered for morning Sunday school classes. Police stopped participants arriving for late-morning sessions while officers searched the basement.
