who I am
and what I am studying As you already guessed, I am a graduating student in social anthropology at the University of Oslo , at the departement of social anthropology. I am heading for the Norwegian degree "Cand.Polit", which is a degree between MAphil/Ph.D.
My fieldwork was done in England, and my base was in south-west London, Tooting. After half a year with preparations, and one survey, I started the fieldwork in September 1997, and ended in April 1998.
My study concerns Spiritualism in contemporary England (particularly Physical Mediumship). If you are interested, choose from the menu and see more about my study, or spiritualism in general.
Please report any dead links, and do not hesitate, mail me! Have a pleasant anthropological and spiritual journey!

Crosscultural anthropological perspectives on human behavior, including cultural transmission, social organization, sex and gender, culture change, technology, war, ritual, and related topics. Lecture course provides introduction to cultural anthropology by focusing on diversity in human culture and societies, as well as the common features that underlie that diversity. What questions anthropologists usually ask, why they ask them, and what methods they use to get answers. By focusing on anthropology as a field that offers perspectives on different cultures and societies of the world, we challenge the assumptions of what is considered natural, normal, and true. Overview of methodology, history, and contemporary issues related to the discipline. Case studies illustrating the basic principles of the cultural process. Films. (Dinc)

The Study of Social Anthropology
Social (or cultural) anthropologists seek to understand and communicate cultural difference and the many ways people maintain and change culture in response to new political and economic contexts. Students of social anthropology gain a deeper understanding of cultural variation and cultural change and are better able to understand their own culture as one among many possible ways of being human. Social anthropology is a foundation discipline within the social sciences. (wherever that may be) and on the other side of the world. Another distinctive feature of social anthropology is that its main research method involves the intimate participation in the lives of people being studied over an extended period of time. The range of topics studied by social anthropologists is also immense - from systems of healing to the creation of national identity; from cultures of resistance to poetry and sexuality; from work to religion. Where is Social Anthropology located?
