Patterns Of Change
It is sometimes hard to visualize patterns of environmental changeincluding causes and effects of changein our own neighborhoods or states. It is harder still for most people to imagine changes that occur on a continental or global scale. From the unique vantage point of space, satellite sensors give us a perspective on our world that allows us to observe and measure the myriad cause-and-effect relationships involved in environmental and climatic change. download the QuickTime software for free. The CHANGE-IGERT: Certificate on Humans and the Global Environment
University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty working on issues of vulnerability and sustainability of the global environment were awarded an IGERT (integrative Graduate Education and Research Traneeship) grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant has supported the creation of a new graduate Certificate on Humans and the Global Environment (CHANGE). It also has established a fellowship that supports a small number of new PhD students each year. The CHANGE program involves faculty members in departments ranging across atmospheric and oceanic sciences, ecology, environmental studies, veterinary medicine, and sociology. The CHANGE-IGERT is a program of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and is administered through the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE)
