TWENTY-THIRD HOLIDAY MATHEMATICS SYMPOSIUM NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University will hold its twenty-third Holiday Symposium. The centerpiece of the program is a series of five one hour lectures each by WILLEM BLOK (University of Illinois at Chicago) and (Vanderbilt University) speaking on ALGEBRAIC STRUCTURES FOR LOGIC January 8 - 12, 1999. The lecture series will give a comprehensive view of the current state of algebraic logic and its universal algebraic counterparts in a manner accessible to graduate students and researchers from logic, universal algebra, and the information sciences. The purpose is to strengthen the cross-fertilization between research in logic and universal algebra, and to make accessible powerful recent techniques to potential users. The lectures will be supplemented by informal discussions sessions and contributed paper sessions that will focus on related issues and applications. We invite participants to present their research and ask that title and abstract be submitted by November 7, 1998. New Mexico State University is located in Las Cruces, New Mexico | |
