161. FCCR
A working paper on FCCR nxn matrices as local kinematical replacement for CCR, and representations by pxp matrices over Galois fields.

Finite Canonical Commutation Relations
You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created. Albert Einstein (1879-1955) "Silence will save me from being wrong (and foolish), but it will also deprive me of the possibility of being right. Igor Stravinsky, composer (1882-1971)
A working paper on FCCR nxn matricies as local kinematical replacement for CCR, and construction of REPS of CCR by pxp matricies over Galois fields. Some remaining text of the chapters is still being translated to hypertext. An abstract and a brief summary of the essentials are available. The central object of interest here is a chain of algebras given in terms of nxn complex matricies that connect the quantum mechanical Canonical Commutation Relations (CCR) for n unbounded with the Canonical Anticommutation Relations (CAR) for n=2, which seem to provide a local, finite, discrete quantum theory. Finite dimensional representations of CCR by matricies over Galois fields are constructed in appendix J. The detail of mathematics, physics and philosophy presented here is far more than what would be usual in an any professional journal. I believe it to be sufficient that any mathematician/physicist should be able to reproduce and confirm (or correct!) every detail in the exposition.

162. 2.10.2 Matrices
There is a stack of matrices for each of the matrix modes. Initially, there is only one matrix on each stack, and all matrices are set to the identity.

2.10.2 Matrices
The projection matrix and model-view matrix are set and modified with a variety of commands. The affected matrix is determined by the current matrix mode. The current matrix mode is set with void MatrixMode enum mode
which takes one of the three pre-defined constants TEXTURE MODELVIEW , or PROJECTION as the argument value. TEXTURE is described later. If the current matrix mode is MODELVIEW , then matrix operations apply to the model-view matrix; if PROJECTION , then they apply to the projection matrix. The two basic commands for affecting the current matrix are void LoadMatrix[fd] T m[16]
void MultMatrix[fd] T m[16]
LoadMatrix takes a pointer to a matrix stored in column-major order as 16 consecutive floating-point values, i.e. as (This differs from the standard row-major C ordering for matrix elements. If the standard ordering is used, all of the subsequent transformation equations are transposed, and the columns representing vectors become rows.) The specified matrix replaces the current matrix with the one pointed to.

Dictionaries
The compound types you have learned about strings, lists, and tuples use integers as indices. If you try to use any other type as an index, you get an error. Dictionaries are similar to other compound types except that they can use any immutable type as an index. As an example, we will create a dictionary to translate English words into Spanish. For this dictionary, the indices are strings One way to create a dictionary is to start with the empty dictionary and add elements. The empty dictionary is denoted
'one' 'uno'
'two' 'dos'
The first assignment creates a dictionary named ; the other assignments add new elements to the dictionary. We can print the current value of the dictionary in the usual way: print
'one' 'uno' 'two' 'dos'
The elements of a dictionary appear in a comma-separated list. Each entry contains an index and a value separated by a colon. In a dictionary, the indices are called keys , so the elements are called key-value pairs Another way to create a dictionary is to provide a list of key-value pairs using the same syntax as the previous output: 'one' 'uno' 'two' 'dos' 'three' 'tres'
If we print the value of again, we get a surprise:

    Purpose of the program
Besides the well-known physical applications of random matrix theory, such as the Wigner-Dyson statistical approach to the distribution of high lying resonances of large nuclei, and the more recent applications to string theory and two dimensional quantum gravity, there exist further new applications under current study, such as the computation of correlation functions in supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, and the regularization of the Laplacian growth problem of two dimensional fluid dynamics. Correlation functions between eigenvalues of random matrices also have close similarities to those in integrable quantum spin systems and many body models. There are further remarkable connections to a variety of probabilistic problems such as random words, tilings and partitions, as well as to the statistical distribution of zeros of L functions. The program is meant to provide an opportunity for productive interactions, bringing together top experts and younger researchers beginning work in this area. The schedule will consist of two parts. There will be eight extended lecture series on related topics, each of one week's duration, having a survey and pedagogical character, aimed primarily at younger researchers entering the field. The afternoon sessions will mainly be of "workshop" character, with one hour talks presented on current work in the field. The schedule will be relaxed, with no more than five talks per day, in order to permit maximum time for interactions between the participants.
