A representation of multivariate normal probability integrals by integral transforms
JOHN E. DUTT G. D. Searle Chicago By using the integral representation of the Hermite polynomial, the tetrachoric series for arbitrary dimension K is transformed ) each involving the normal characteristic function divided by the produot of the variables of integration. These integral transforms are evaluated numerically by Gaussian quadrature and provide rapidly convergent formulae for the multivariate normal probability integral.

Help Title: Optoelectronic means for one-dimensional integral transforms of two dimensional information Document Type and Number: United States Patent 4016413 Link to this page: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4016413.html Abstract: The invention concerns an analog TV-type process and apparatus for rapid cessing of pictorial information. A transparency is rapidly scanned by a line of light source, scanning of which is controlled by conventional electronic means. The light output is applied to an image converter tube and the output thereof applied in line by line sequence to a transmissive plate. The plate has parallel strips with transmittivities determined by the operation to be performed, such as biased sines or cosines for a Fourier transform. A line of the picture on the transparency is projected successively on all the transmissive strips. The total amount of light output of each strip of the plate is applied to a photomultiplier tube. The coefficients of the Fourier transform are obtained from the difference between the photomultiplier output after illumination of a line of the transmissive plate and a stored signal which specifies the bias level. Abstract
A solution is obtained for a class of boundary-value problems of heat and mass transfer described by equations with variable coefficients which are functions of the coordinate and time. For these problems, the kernels and norms of finite integral transforms as well as characteristic equations for finding the eigenvalues are determined. The wavelet domain provides a natural setting for many applications involving real-world signals and images, especially those rich in singularities (edges, ridges, and other transients). In this project, we extended wavelet transform modeling and processing algorithms to handle multidimensional signals that are smooth save for singularities along lower-dimensional manifolds. Integral transforms and special functions belong to the basic subjects of mathematical analysis, the theory of differential and integral equations, approximation theory, and to many other areas of pure and applied mathematics. Although centuries old, these subjects are under intense development, for use in pure and applied mathematics, physics, engineering and computer science. This stimulates continuous interest for researchers in these fields. The aim of Integral Transforms and Special Functions is to foster further growth by providing a means for the publication of important research on all aspects of the subjects. 2006 Impact Factor: 0.248

University of Pennsylvania Department of Computer and Information Science Technical Report No. MS-CIS-02-20. ABSTRACT:
This paper is concerned with the group-theoretical background of integral transforms and the role they play in signal processing on the sphere. An overview of topological groups, measure and representation theories, and an overview of the Windowed Fourier Transform and the Continuous Wavelet Transform are presented. A group-theoretical framework within which these transforms arise is presented. The connection between integral transforms and square-integrable group representations is explored. The theory is also generalized beyond groups to homogeneous spaces. The abstract theory is then applied to signal processing on the sphere with a discussion of both global and local methods. A detailed derivation of the continuous spherical harmonic transform is presented. Global methods such as the spherical Fourier transform and convolution are presented in an appendix as well as some background material from group theory and topology. DATE POSTED: 22 June 2007
