The powerful CT application is known for its ease of use and speed of completion, providing automatic qualitative and quantitative assessments of left ventricular function. In addition to ejection fraction, CFA automatically calculates cardiac output, myocardial mass, myocardial volume and segments the left ventricle. The edit function allows adjustment of the inner and outer surfaces of the left ventricle, therefore revising estimates of chamber volume and wall thickness. To analyze wall motion, CFA allows 4D cine reviews, displaying a beating heart in “echo views.” The application provides full color polar plots charting quantitative wall motion data. Images are automatically placed in two-chamber and four-chamber views, and up to 20 phases of thick slice data can be loaded simultaneously—allowing for a focused Regional Functional Qualitative Evaluation.

    Dan Russell
Phd thesis, Computing Laboratory, University of Kent at Canterbury, January 2001.
    Abstract
This thesis presents the functional analysis and design methodology FAD. By functional we mean that it naturally supports software development within the functional programming paradigm (FP). Every popular methodology has a graphical modelling language whcih presents various pictorial representations of a system. FAD's modelling language provides the typical elements of functional programming, types and functions, plus elements to support modular development such as modules, subsystems and two forms of signature which specify and interface or a behavioural requirement. The language also includes relationships and associations between these elements, and provides simple representations of functional designs. The methodology has an integrated set of techniques which guide the development of an implementable solution from the deliverables of requirements engineering. FAD's data dictionary provides an organised repository for entities during and after development. The thesis thus provides a development medium which has hitherto been absent from the functional programming paradigm.

(Vrije Universiteit) E-mail mdejeu@math.leidenuniv.nl acm.ran@few.vu.nl Aim To obtain a broad basis in functional analysis well beyond the introductory level, preparing for a specialization in fundamental analysis as well as developing the tools for advanced functional analytic applications in other disciplines. Description Following a brief review and slight extension of the prerequisited material as covered in introductory courses, the course starts with locally convex spaces. These are the most convenient topological vector spaces to work with (because the Hahn-Banach theorems still hold) and they are highly relevant in analysis, even in the study of normed spaces where one has a "better" topology to start with.
The next topic to be taken up is the Riesz-Schauder theory of compact operators on a Banach space. This theory has a wide range of applications, including the completeness statement about eigenfunctions in selfadjoint Sturm-Liouville problems.
The bounded operators on a Banach space are a concrete example of a so-called Banach algebra. This functional analytic structure occurs at quite a few places and is well worth the individual attention it will be given as the next topic in this course, together with the subclass of C*-algebras. As we will see, normal operators on a Hilbert space are best understood from a C*-algebra perspective and C*-algebras also provide a natural framework for Fredholm theory on Hilbert spaces.

Functional Analysis Contact Martin Modell Table of Contents CHAPTER SYNOPSIS A function is a series of related activities, involving one or more entities, performed for the direct, or indirect, purpose of fulfilling one or more missions or objectives of the firm, generating revenue for the firm, servicing the customers of the firm, producing the products and services of the firm, or managing, administering, monitoring, recording, or reporting on the activities, states, or conditions of the entities of the firm. This chapter discusses the concept of business functions and provides some insight into their identification and documentation. It includes extensive lists of questions for the analyst to ask when interviewing or gathering data at the functional level. What Is a Function? Seeing the Light ... Shine on Grad School
Things have gotten a million times better here in Dublin, finally. After 3.5 weeks of looking, I get a job as a programmer at a small startup company. Even though I work part-time, the money I earn per hour guarantees that money will no longer be an issue for the rest of my stay here.
[Side rant: Though, really, I suppose money should really have never been an issue I was getting a graduation party once I get back to California (which is a really good source of income) and I would also get my first big grad-school paycheck for studying on August 30th (it's like getting paid for a week of orientation ... which is AWESOME.)
