DMTCS is a high standard peer-reviewed electronic journal devoted to rapid publication of innovative research which covers the fields of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science and puts a certain emphasis on the intersection of these two fields. We are organized in (currently) five different sections , namely The journal is devoted to a quest of quality and immediacy. The median value for acceptance of papers (including refereeing and all eventual revisions) has been about 10 month for papers published in 2004. Author's manuscripts are published as soon as they have been accepted and are be available internationally via the Internet. Mathematics has traditionally been the language of science and now plays a vital role in the social sciences and business as well. Every field in which quantitative activity is found requires that its workers have good backgrounds in mathematics. A student well-versed in mathematics will find their skills of use in almost any profession. Although mathematics is studied for its applications, it also attracts many who are interested in its aesthetic and creative side. A study of mathematics improves one's ability to think about abstract concepts, to conceptualize about hypothetical structures, to reach logical conclusions, and to consider many solution techniques when problem solving.

    96. CTI Workshop 18: Computer-Based Assessment In Mathematics
This is a report prepared by Pam Bishop of the University of Birmingham for the CTI Maths quarterly newsletter Maths Stats.
    http://www.bham.ac.uk/ctimath/workshops/wass.htm
Computer-Based Assessment in Mathematics Report of a miniconference held on 12 and 13 September 1994 at the Runnymede Campus of Brunel University Over 40 people attended this miniconference, which aimed to:
    * review the use of computers in assessment * understand the main issues * find out what is happening abroad * foster collaboration * consider funding bids * plan future developments.
    Introduction
Cliff Beevers, Heriot-Watt University, introduced the topic by reminding those present that the use of computers in assessment is a cross- discipline issue. However, there are some advantages for the discipline of mathematics due to its numerical base and the fact that mathematical expressions can be compared.
There are several purposes to be served by an assessment process. A diagnostic test will give feedback to students and teachers on individual and collective strengths and weaknesses. Self-testing gives fast feedback to the student. Monitoring can be carried out by continuous assessment and finally there is a formal grading process. Each of these purposes must be separately considered when the computer is introduced into assessment.

The Solution Archive is a free communtiy supported site for the preservation and organization of resources helpful to science and mathematics graduate students. Here, you may find FULL SOLUTIONS to physics problems found in texts such as Goldstein, Serway, Griffiths, Wangsness, Greenwood and Kittel. You do not need to login to browse or download files from the Archive. Software, code, HOWTOs and links particularly helpful to upper-level science and math types are also Archived here. Help build the Solution Archive! Link this page and spread the word. What the Solution Archive is NOT This is not a homework help site! Nor is it a "send me stuff" service. Don't email questions that need answering. Don't ask for help with a problem. In short, do your own damned homework. Take back the Internet! "Education and plagiarism are mutually exclusive; Education and sharing are not. One should give credit where it is due because that is what integrity and honor dictate be done. The Internet is the library of which, so long ago, Euclid, Plato and scores of other scholars had dreamed... ...Now that may we glimpse their enduring Alexandria, we must behold how a few short-sighted, greedy fools have so perverted such a beautiful and simple concept."
