If my memory serves me well (and it should), this game received quite contradictory criticism from both reviewers and different types of players. A lot of the players bent on instant-fun who think that learning is something they should only use in school (if necessary) were less than delighted by the fact that they had to use their brains in this technically and conceptually superior game. Music Review for May 27, 2004 Artist: Alanis Morissette Album: Release Date: May 18, 2004 Genre: Pop/Rock This is one of those weeks. Full of anger, spite, and malice from a broken relationship, Alanis was fiery and passionate on her debut. On her latest release, Alanis seems to try to get some of that edge back, but with little success. Her songwriting is still fantastic though. The lyrics are sharp, witty, and at times are dripping with sarcasm. All of which are classic Alanis. The problem lies within the music itself. The music will be way too happy-go-lucky for the subject matter, and oozing with pop instead of a more appropriate sound. For instance, on the opening track there are times in the chorus when Alanis is almost drowned out by the music. This continues throughout most of the album. Reportedly, Alanis wrote a lot of these songs in one day. Just one day for music and lyrics? Ten songs. Really Alanis? Only ten songs? Alanis fans will definitely want to give it a listen, but it will take a few spins before you can start to tell the songs apart.
