Mathematical Transformations
Mathematical transformations of images may be as simple as image arithmetic or as complex as an iterating Fourier transform. You can handle most image arithmetic by executing IGOR commands. For example, to subtract a background image: Duplicate noisyImage, outputImage outputImage=inputImage-backgroundImage When working with images that are 8 or 16 bit per pixel you can perform level mapping using outputImage=LUT[inputImage[p][q]] here LUT is a lookup table for the mapping. For example, LUT can be used for Gamma correction using an expression like LUT=p^(1/Gamma) Most arithmetic operations are performed more efficiently using MatrixOP.
Fourier Transforms
The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) can be used to decompose a grayscale image into its spatial frequency components or to perform efficient 2D convolutions and correlations (RGB images are usually handled on a channel by channel basis). In the following example we illustrate simple FFT filtering. We created an image that consists of a one dimensional slow quadratic ramp and added single frequency sinusoidal noise. The filter consists of a 2D constant wave with a single null pixel. The filtering consists of a single command line:

I am QA engineer who is in charge of SPC activity in the field of semiconductor assembly in korea.
The question is that I heard that there is a new procability capability index not Cpk. That is Cpm(Taguchi process cability index) which is from A.I.A.G Manual and JMP Statistical software. Exactly,I know the meaning of Cpm and what the calculation is. If possible, Could you specify your answer on the above my questions. Thanks and best rgds. SI Kang from korea. IP: Logged Don Winton Forum Contributor Posts: 498 From:Tullahoma, TN Registered: posted 11 May 1999 09:46 AM I have never heard of 'Taguchi Process Capability Index' but I have heard of Cpm. Process capability index Cpm is used when a target value other than the center of the specification spread has been designated as desirable. Maybe AIAG has modified the Loss Function equations to relate to process capability. Perhaps some QS folks could elaborate as that I stay away from AIAG's stuff as much as possible.

Jens Maurer - C++ class library for intervals
From Jens Maurer ( jmaurer@menuett.rhein-main.de I've had a look at the two C++ interval arithmetic packages available via www.cs.utep.edu/interval-comp/main.html , namely RVInterval 1.1.1 ( www-math.cudenver.edu/~rvan/Software.html ) and PROFIL/BIAS ( www.ti3.tu-harburg.de/Software/PROFIL.html ). From a software design perspective, I felt that both were inadequate. Most importantly, they are not templated, so they always employ "double" as the underlying type. Thus, I have written another C++ package with the following features:
  • Configurable base type (float, double, long double, or even your own floating-point like type; I've included an example using a rational type).
  • Configurable behavior for out-of-range arguments (exception or NaN)
  • Abstracted rounding-mode control into a separate class to allow easy adaption to the computing environment.
  • Transcendental functions implemented.
