This service is available to schools impacted by the hurricane that may need Contribute to the NASP Children's Fund Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort. additional volunteer, temporary, or full-time mental health staff and to schools offering to hire displaced school mental health professionals. Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues. Jobs will stay up for 30 days after the date of initial posting. Unlike psychiatrists , psychologists are no longer considered a medical doctor and hence are unable to prescribe psychiatric medications . Psychologists however do generally have doctoral degrees, either a Ph.D. or a Psy.D. . However prescription privileges in the United States have recently changed and some psychologists are gaining prescriptive privileges, specifically in New Mexico and Louisiana
