121. WIIT - The Women's Institute For Incorporation Therapy - Offering Women's Treatm
Details on this psychiatric program for women with acute symptoms associated with psychological trauma, including grief, loss, depression, post traumatic stress, and dissociative disorders.
http://www.wiit.com
I'm an alumni of "WIIT." That's my way of saying I was a patient at the Women's Institute for Incorporation Therapy. I'm a trauma survivor… actually, a sex abuse survivor. I had real serious depression. Some of my behaviors had one therapist telling me that I was Bipolar and another was thinking I might have a Borderline Personality. Then I met a therapist that said I had Dissociative Disorder and PTSD. This concerned her because some dissociatives have a history of ritual abuse and even multiple personality, which she called D.I.D. She said because of my vulnerability it would be best for me to go to a women's treatment program like WIIT.
It was the best thing I ever did. I met women with all kinds of trauma issues, most of which came from incest or some other form of child abuse. Even though our backgrounds and issues might have been different, we knew each others pain, loss and grief and we all felt safe and understood at WIIT.
WIIT is a really different kind of program. Please take a moment to come on a Guided Tour with me.

http://www.anxietytreatmentcenter.net/
If you are feeling anxious, you are certainly not alone. It is believed that as many as 16 percent of the adult United States population may have generalized anxiety disorder. Fear is a basic human response. A healthy fear protects you from real harm but an irrational fear, or phobia, can control you and keep you from living life to its fullest. Although the problem is common, you don't have to continue to suffer.

Hodges Page Anderson Grigore C. Burdea Hunter G. Hoffman ... Barbara O. Rothbaum Full Article Text: DOI Bookmark: http://doi.ieeecomputersociety.org/10.1109/38.963458 Abstract Most current VR application domains are expensive, large-scale applications that are sold to, and used by, a few rich customers. Currently, there is no such thing as a VR mass market. Successful commercial VR is based on selling expensive pieces of hardware and software to a small number of clients who have the financial, spatial, and human resources to purchase, house, and maintain them. The one exception has been the use of virtual environments in the treatment of psychological disorders. The typical customer for these systems is not a large government agency or international company, but usually a clinician in a hospital or an independent clinic. As a result, VR therapy systems have had to be inexpensive, easy to use and maintain, and usually must fit into existing space in a clinician's office. About References Back to Top References

Documentation of a Psychiatric/Psychological Disorder to Apply for Educational Support Services
The University of Puget Sound is committed to providing flexible educational opportunities including attention to the special needs of students with significant psychological or psychiatric conditions. Therefore, students who have a diagnosed disorder (e.g., panic disorder, bipolar disorder, delayed traumatic stress syndrome, etc.) may be eligible for support services. In these cases, the student will work with University personnel to develop appropriate and reasonable support and, if necessary, accommodations. Students who are seeking support services on the basis of a diagnosed psychological or psychiatric disability are required to submit documentation to verify eligibility. Providing diagnostic information and/or relevant history (including significant life factors which relate to the disability) is in the student's best interest. Adequate documentation and a thorough understanding of a student's background help determine eligibility and tailor appropriate support services. It is up to a student wishing to be considered for accommodations due to a psychological/psychiatric disability to provide documentation of an appropriate evaluation. Preferably, this evaluation will be conducted and documentation provided by professionals not employed by the University in order to reduce concerns about potential evaluator bias.

Conservatism As Pathology

Are Bush supporters literally insane?
By Timothy Noah
Posted Monday, May 9, 2005, at 8:40 PM PT
The people who were once radical are now reactionary. Though they speak today in the same aggrieved language of victimization, and though they face the same array of economic forces as their hard-bitten ancestors, today's populists make demands that are precisely the opposite. Tear down the federal farm programs, they cry. Privatize the utilities. Repeal the progressive taxes. All that Kansas asks today is a little help nailing itself to that cross of gold. Thomas Frank, What's the Matter With Kansas The working class's refusal to synchronize its politics with its economic interests is one of the enduring puzzles of the present age. Between 1989 and 1997, middle-income families (defined in this instance as the middle 20 percent) saw their share of the nation's wealth fall from 4.8 percent to 4.4 percent. Yet Al Gore lost the white working class by a margin of 17 percentage points, and John Kerry lost it by a margin of 23 percentage points. As the GOP drifts further to the right, and becomes more starkly the party of the wealthy, it is
