The announcement was made April 15, during the annual SIOP national conference in Los Angeles. The 6,300-member Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology is an international group of industrial-organizational psychologists whose members study and apply scientific principles concerning people in the workplace. SIOP Fellows must have been professionals in the field for a minimum of ten years. This was Bauer’s first year of eligibility, and she was the youngest recipient.
“SIOP Fellows have distinguished themselves by their outstanding contributions to the field,” said SIOP President Fritz Drasgow. “It is a significant honor granted only to a small percentage of industrial-organizational psychologists.”

Ph.D. Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology
The doctoral program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Kansas State University prepares students for careers in consulting, private business, public agencies, and academic settings. The program was founded in the late 1950s, and has existed in its current form since 1976. Its graduates have obtained jobs in academic settings, federal government agencies, major corporations, and international consulting firms. The Industrial/Organizational Psychology programs train students to work in a variety of settings, helping organizations to make better decisions about the utilization of human resources and organizational processes. The M.A. and Ph.D. programs use classroom training to prepare students for research and field experience. Both programs provide students with training on historical and current issues, theories, and methods in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and an awareness of legal trends and current issues in human resource management.
Following is a list of some of the topics covered in the I/O programs:
Personnel Assessment: Developing and using assessment tools for personnel selection, classification, and promotion; measuring the impact of cultural variables on test performance; early identification of managerial potential; and emphasis on alternatives to cognitive abilities testing, including physical fitness and personality assessment.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Course Description PSYC 4306 is an online discovery learning course that has been developed to facilitate active discovery and exploration of information resources pertaining to industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology. The course uses a combination of independent study of textbook information and exploration of information on the Internet.
