Especially the structures of cognitive processes, the representation of knowledge, and their applications, e.g. in personalized web-based testing and in eLearning systems are investigated. The Methodology of CSS includes mathematical modelling and eye-tracking.

The Centre for Cognitive Science (CogSci) was incorporated into the School of Informatics in 1998, along with the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI), and the Department of Computer Science. Edinburgh enjoys an international reputation for its research in Cognitive Science and is a world leader in speech and language technologies. We offer a great choice of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and degrees in Cognitive Science and Computational Linguistics, with built-in workplacements and sponsorship schemes. Research activity in the School of Informatics is organised within six research institutes. Site Map Welcome to the 31st Australasian Experimental Psychology Conference (EPC'04), hosted by the Department of Psychology, University of Otago. This is the first time the conference is being held outside of Australia, so it is fitting it is at New Zealand's first university. The conference provides a forum for researchers to present work across the broad spectrum of experimental psychology. It runs on the Friday to Sunday, 16-18 April 2004, the weekend following Easter.
    The conference is in a new building, the School of Business, adjacent to the Department of Psychology and to the accommodation at St Margaret's College. Apart from participating in the academic parts of the conference, we hope you will take some time to explore the historic campus, picturesque Victorian city, and astonishingly beautiful surrounding regions.
