A General Overview
The Clinical Child Psychology Training Program at the University of Kansas, leading to the doctoral degree (Ph.D.), is accredited by the American Psychological Association as a training program in the area of Clinical Psychology with a Child Emphasis. Clinical Child Psychology is an initiative jointly affiliated with the Departments of Psychology and Applied Behavioral Science (formerly Human Development and Family Life). This interdepartmental program involves the rich resources of faculty in both departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program includes a core faculty with specialty interests in clinical child and pediatric psychology. As one of a select few clinical programs in the country specializing exclusively in children, adolescents, and families, students in the CCPP receive training from a core faculty with interests specific to developmental issues in psychology and benefit from diverse clinical and research opportunities with youth and families. The program's superior reputation and ability to provide uniquely focused training have consistently placed students at top internship sites and leading positions following graduation. Of equal importance, beyond the rigorous training and abundant opportunities, the program prides itself on maintaining a supportive and collegial atmosphere.

Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Child Psychology Graduate Fellowships
In January 2000, Werner J. Koppitz, Ph.D., left a bequest of over $4 million to the Foundation to support aspiring child psychologists for years to come. The gift was used to establish graduate fellowships in memory of his late wife, Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz, Ph.D., a school and educational psychologist, who died of leukemia in 1983. The Fund is administered by the APF Trustees for the "advancement of knowledge and learning in the field of child psychology." Up to three graduate students will be awarded the $20,000 Koppitz Fellowship plus travel funds (to attend the APA Convention). Runner-up applicants will be awarded travel stipends to attend the APA Convention and other conferences in child psychology. Requirements: Applicants must be graduate students who have academically progressed through the qualifying exams, typically after the 3rd or 4th year of doctoral study. Consideration will be given to psychological research that breaks new ground or creates significant new understandings that facilitate the development and/or functioning of children and youth. Please note: Only one nominee per institution will be accepted each year. Students should check with their dean of graduate studies or their provost of research before applying.
