MEMOIRS
Alison Booth on Bennington In the Winter '99 issue of Kenyon Review is a long academic feminist critique of Sexual Personae by Alison Booth. Though generally uninspired, it contains a firsthand description of the assault which ended Paglia's career at Bennington College.
Vamps and Tramps (1994), she proudly lists it among the high jinks that led to her departure from the college (231). Bennington was a strange place, but such violent personality stood out even there. (Donna Tartt's The Secret History gets the flavor of Bennington right, but the human sacrifice is a fiction, to my knowledge.)"
In 2003, a member of Paglia-L had a chance encounter with a student of Paglia's at the University of the Arts.
I began to make small talk with the son who had a UPenn t-shirt on. I asked him if he was a student there, and he said that he wasn't, but that he just graduated from UArts. I immediately perked up, and asked him if he knew Camille Paglia. He, and his parents said 'Of course!' and he began to tell me that he had her for 2 courses. I told him that I worship her, and would kill to be enrolled in a course of hers. He said that she was a fantastic teacher, but not as glamorous as her book covers make her out to be. He also said that she favored the screen-writing majors such as himself over the other students. He mentioned that one time he was passing a note in class, and she saw him, and just made a joke, but on another occasion when other students were talking she exclaimed, 'Why are there vibrations of noise coming from this section of the room?!?!!?'

Miami Fl:
Is there any difference between making a serious movie or a movie like Austin Powers? Or is it just work as usual?
Michael York: They're made the same way! Same techniques and so on. The old adage is that when you're making a comedy it's torture, and when you're doing tragedy it's a laugh a minute. There's a great sense of family on Austin Powers, which comes from Mike and Jay.

As I have written elsewhere, John Bell Young stands out as one of the heroes of the end of this epoch. He introduced me to the Internet, and made it possible for me to reach a whole new public through my recordings. Though I am no longer performing as much as I once did, this is an exciting new world that has allowed me to re-establish my relationship with audiences around the world. I know of few people, including agents and impresarios, who are as effective at turning an idea into a reality as John Bell Young. Add to that his tremendous knowledge of the specific problems which classical artists encounter; his understanding, thanks to his own experience and exemplary virtuosity as a concert pianist himself, of the artistic and professional issues we all face; and his remarkably clear intuition about artists, the direction their careers ought to take, and the music business. I cannot imagine a more tireless and devoted advocate for who and what he believes in. MICHEL BLOCK, pianist
