B I O / R E S U M E Here you'll find my bio, resume, and some other stuff about me. My complete resume is posted below; for the current version I am using (in PDF format), click here
amy brown Amy Brown has starred in several independent feature films, as well as short films and student films. She has been cast as the lead in Take-Away Spirit for One Shot Productions, scheduled to film in the summer of 2005. In recent years, Amy starred in Dawn of Twilight (as an amnesiac pursued by a hit-man) and Mute (as a woman tormented by a killer), both filmed in 2003. She also filmed a supporting role in the upcoming thriller Unaware (as an escaped mental patient) with stars Joe Estevez and Linnea Quigley. She is represented by Linda McAlister Talent.
Amy Brown began acting as a child in school productions and community theatre in Waco, Texas. Her interest in acting deepened in high school, when she had leading roles in plays such as The Odd Couple (Female Version) by Neil Simon and the title role in David Mamet's The Poet and the Rent . An early highlight was the Holocaust drama No Fading Star , in which Amy played a Jewish boy hiding in a convent while preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. For this challenging role, Amy adopted a masculine look and learned to speak passages in Hebrew. She fondly recalls when, at a state one-act play competition, she alarmed several people when entering the girls' restroom while in costume.

THE ARTS, LIBERALLY To find the office of The Arts Program in Goodhart Hall, you take a short flight of steps down into a small garden. There, tucked into the flank of this immense building with its soaring spires and buttresses is a wooden door, very much like the one in Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden . You open it and enter the spaces of the imagination. The Arts Program is a family of working artists. Each has a different voice, but in each voice is reflected the same respect for and delight in the students. Each has professional commitments outside of Bryn Mawr, but it's clear Bryn Mawr means the most to them each embraces the liberal arts environment as the liveliest arena for his or her work. Dance Director and Senior Lecturer Linda Caruso-Haviland holds the memory of what the arts were like at Bryn Mawr before the program was created in 1984. "The difference between 1979 and now is the difference between night and day," she says appreciatively. "After several faculty reviews, the administration made a wholehearted commitment and hired Jane Wilkinson to direct an integrated program. Until she arrived, we were all separate satellites, respected but not part of the larger liberal arts curriculum." Michael Isador, concert pianist and child prodigy, succeeded Wilkinson as director of the Arts Program in 1992 when she moved from the area. "Running this program has been a challenge with many exciting moments," Michael says. "There's a high degree of cooperation from the College." He pauses for an instant, smiles and continues, "within the limits the College has put on creative disciplines."

featuring the words of Diamanda Galás
(taken from REsearch
We at Lower Frequencies felt it important to, among the male dominated world of the Arts, to include a monthly column where powerful women are featured that helped shape the Artsin America and give inspiration to those trying to follow in their footsteps. Diamanda Galas is certainly a woman that carved her own niche where the doors have previously been closed. Her style, personality, her essence lie in the indescribable gray area reserved for greatness and genius alike. Perhaps interview magazine said it best with, "When she sings, she screams with such a lack of self-censorship that she has been called a demonic diva. And some say she was Maria Callas in her past life-she's certainly the closest equivalent we have to Callas. Like Callas, she just doesn't use her voice as an opportunity to show off her singing technique, but to express love and loss with all the feeling that they deserve. " Andrea Irtno: On this overpopulated planet, the Biblical dictum "Be fruitful and multiply " is suicidal- Diamanda Galas: New breeding makes no sense at all-there's already too many kids around; you can adopt one. What about protecting the unfortunate children who a[ready exist on this planet' I was talking to Rachel Rosenthal [godmother of performance art] about this. I told her I had my tubes tied and she said I should get a fucking medal for this!

SATCHMO SUMMER FEST
There's no doubt that it's always jazzy in New Orleans. But, a special beat swings Crescent City when the fourth annual Satchmo SummerFest, August 4-8, celebrates Louis Satchmo Armstrong and his undeniable contribution to American music and the global music community.
Lionel Toyer, entertainment coordinator for Satchmo SummrFest spoke with Broadway To Vegas about this growing annual event.
"32,000 attended last year and we are expecting 50,000 this year," he stated. "The attendees just love Satchmo, his music and contribution."
The jazz-inspired program includes educational seminars, an outdoor music festival, exhibits, a jazz mass, activities for budding young jazz fans, a club crawl, local cuisine, and a star-studded line-up of performances from local and international jazz musicians.
It is Toyer who booked the speakers.

What's In A Name?
A whole lot of hassles, according to Diana Quinn of local band The Towering Bouffants. ãWeâve learned that in this age you must be very careful about choosing your name and that money is a very powerful thing,ä Quinn said, now that her band has agreed on the settlement of a lawsuit filed by Memphis band The Bouffants. The Towering Bouffants will not be required to pay any monetary compensation and will begin using a new moniker of The Fabulettes after December 31st in keeping with the settlement agreement. She added that the new Fabulettes will not abandon their bouffant hairstyles. ãHaving that silhouette of the three towers of hair walking down the street does a lot for our visibility,ä laughed Quinn.

Ring 'Round the West Coast
As Seattle Opera is getting ready to produce three sold-out cycles of Wagner's Der Ring des Niebelungen , Aug. 7-28, news comes from Long Beach Opera that it will import the 1990 Ring Saga from Birmingham next January. Then, in September, 2006, the opening of Costa Mesa 's $200 million Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall will feature a single four-night Ring cycle, given by the Kirov Opera. (Meanwhile, there is no news about what may happen to the postponed LA Opera "Star Wars Ring Lest you think any of the Southland doings may mean " Ring for the first time," music lovers with long memory, such as www.sandiego.com/ 's David Gregson , point to San Diego Opera's 1975 complete Ring in English, imported from Seattle. That production, with the Gramma Fisher Foundation as a major sponsor, also made its way to Washington, DC, and Pittsburgh besides becoming a Seattle perennial. (The daughter of J. William and "Gramma" Fisher

Glenn and I have had many adventures together, including sometimes dating the same people. I met Lauren at a con, when she was in a rotten mood. True to form, this attracted my attention. We talked for a while, and then traded some email. I asked her out, but ended up having a change of plans and had to cancel. She would have given up on me, but she asked a friend and he suggested giving me another chance. We had a good time, and started dating regularly. We had loads of fun, and Lauren would tell me her face hurt from so much unaccustomed smiling. We kept dating until she started dating a younger guy with serious emotional problems. He didn't deal well with what he perceived as competition, so she dumped me. Later, for some reason, she decided I had been a really bad idea.
