Donald Glenn "D'Glenn" Arthur (Glenn)
with Gail Rosencrown, 1986
Found
I met Glenn at the first Evecon, and thereby discovered this wonderful nest of worthwhile people who lived near me. Glenn and I have had many adventures together, including sometimes dating the same people. Even though we don't see each other as often any more, every time we see each other, we immediately have a good time and can still read each others' minds, understand obscure jokes, and generally have a continuous if discontiguous relationship.
Current Status
Glenn's living in Baltimore, which is close enough to see each other regularly, even though I'm often too lame to journey up there.

Lost
Ellen and I met at college and were mutually intrigued. We spent a lot of time together, and one sweet night we had a fabulous cuddle. We continued dating on and off for a year or so.

Why do people read mysteries? The authors of The Mystery Readers' Advisory suggest several reasons. In his articles "Crime Fiction and Music" and "Music in English Detective Fiction: A Few Notes," Philip Scowcroft remarks upon the associations between music and literature. His comments parallel my own journey toward music mysteries. Initially, my primary focus was on any fiction involving representations of musicians. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played "On Wisconsin" countless times on the trombone as a member of the fabulous UW Marching Band. He was involved as a volunteer for MEDIC, Doctors Ought to Care, and as a president of the local student chapter of the Christian Medical Association. It may seem as though Tim will never leave Madison, but indeed he has a significant interest in future work in international medicine, due in part to having previously spent several months each in Brazil and at a mission hospital in India. Flash Review 1, 1-15: Quinn's Got the Music in Her
New Music Director Gets the Spirit into City Ballet By Alicia Mosier
Thus did the unusual organism called the New York City Ballet Orchestra become a fundamental part of the whole operation. It has the most demanding job of any ballet orchestra in the world, and perhaps the most important. With the arrival this summer of Andrea Quinn as its new full-time music director, the orchestra begins a new phase in its remarkable, sometimes rocky, history. If her performance in several guest appearances most recently, last week in "The Four Temperaments" is any indication, Quinn's effect on the orchestra, and, in turn, its effect on the company it serves, could be enormous. The orchestra's recent troubles are well known. Its two major strikes, in 1976 and 1999, caused an uproar in the company and the artistic community. In 1976 the debate was over salary increases. In 1999 it had to do with the much more questionable demand that members should regularly be able to send substitutes to rehearsals and performances. As music critic Anthony Tommasini reported in the New York Times, on the night that strike began "22 of the 62 musicians in the pit would have been substitutes." Needless to say, the quality of the orchestra's playing had suffered tremendously as a result of this practice. They stopped playing altogether on November 23, 1999: the opening night gala performance was cancelled, and for a few weeks the company performed "The Nutcracker" to taped music.
