SCOTT DUNN A sought-after vocal collaborator, Dunn makes frequent concert appearances with noted singers Kurt Ollmann, Joyce Castle and Angelina Reaux. Of a recent appearance with Angelina Reaux the press raved: Of his 2002 world premiere with Kurt Ollmann of Ned Rorem's song cycle "Another Sleep" at Lincoln Center the New York Times wrote – He has toured Europe with the Martha Graham Dance company and he also occasionally appears in piano four-hand collaboration with composer-pianist Richard Rodney Bennett. As a solo recitalist, Dunn is a noted and prize-winning advocate of contemporary music. Of a 2004 solo Los Angeles recital critic Alan Rich recently wrote "Gifted indeed – an abundance of technique and musicality” exclaimed the LA Times. Encouraged, Dunn followed his heart, left medical practice and moved to New York, where he has established a distinguished reputation and professional career. The pianist Neil Galanter began his musical studies at the age of seven. He gave his first recital at the age of nine, and made his debut at twelve with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He has since gone on to play many recitals and concerts throughout the USA, Mexico, Canada and Europe including appearances at Centenary Hall in Leeds, Salle Cortot in Paris, McCain Hall in Dublin, Ulster Hall in Belfast and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He received his Bachelor of Music with minors in French Language and Journalism from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1987, and holds a Masters degree in Piano Performance as well from Temple University in Philadelphia. He received his Doctoral degree in Piano from the University of Southern California where he was a student of Daniel Pollack and Stewart Gordon. He also studied at the Juilliard School of Music and Manhattan School of Music in New York. His teachers have included such well-known pianists as Adele Marcus, Theodore Lettvin, Robert Goldsand, Jerome Rose, and Nicholas Zumbro Dr. Galanter was the recipient of a fellowship and Spanish Music Prize two years in a row from the commission for "Musica en Compostela" from the Spanish Government in Santiago Spain. He has done extensive research in the origins of Spanish Piano Music of the 19th and 20th centuries, which is one of his specialties. Other awards include a first prize in the Jackson Symphony Piano Competition, the Young Artists Award from the Detroit Symphony, and fellowships and scholarships at the New England Conservatory of Music, Temple University in Philadelphia, and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Deon Nielsen Price
(Bachelor of Arts and Gold Medal Piano Award-Brigham Young University; Master of Music in piano performance-University of Michigan, Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance with Honors in Accompanying-University of Southern California) is a prize-winning pianist, commissioned composer, recording artist, educator and author.
As pianist, she performs on many university and community concert series in the United States, as well as at international festivals in China, Alaska, Italy, Austria, Germany, England, France, Spain, Mexico, Korea, and the U.S. under the auspices of Academia Pro Arte, the International Congresses on Women in Music, the National Association of Composers/USA, the ECHOSPHERE touring ensemble and the Price Duo with her clarinetist son, Berkeley Price, D.M.A. Eastman School of Music. Her teachers included Carl Fuerstner, Benning Dexter, Gyorgy Sandor, Aube Tzerko, Daniel Pollack, Gwendolyn Koldofsky, and Brooks Smith.
Having studied composition primarily with Leslie Bassett and Samuel Adler, her works are performed in many countries including the former Soviet Union, Korea and China. Many are published by Culver Crest Publications and Southern Music Company and recorded on Cambria Master Recordings: SunRays ("first rate" American Record Guide SunRays II: City Views ; and Clariphonia ("inventive and entertaining" AMR).

The 3rd Annual Piano Concerto Competition 2002 Winners' Bios Junior Division First Place Tracy Bu is a 4th grader in Richard H. Bryan Elementary School. She has been playing piano for 6 years under the occasional guidance of Jie Bu. Tracy has performed solo and duet in many recitals, festivals and competitions over the years. She has been awarded firsts in Silver State and Jr. Piano Competitions. In addition to her piano talent, Tracy also plays violin. Most recently, she won second place in the 2002 Bolognini Scholarship Competition. In her spare time, Tracy likes to read and swim. She also enjoys traveling with her family and friends, especially overseas. First Place Jun Yamaguchi is a 4th grader in the Meadows School. He has been playing piano since he was 6 years old, under the great guidance of Jie Bu. Jun has won many times in competitions over the last several years. He was awarded first place in the Silver State Competition. Besides the piano Jun is also a winning chess player. In his spare time Jun likes to read, ski and play golf and tennis. He also enjoys school and playing with his friends. Second Place (not awarded) Intermediate Division Desert Arts of Nevada Award First Place Bonnie Brooksbank 11 years old, began studying the piano at age three. A first place winner at the Silver State Competition from 1998 to 2001, she had received top marks and accolades in numerous festivals in the Reno area.

K ELLY L IN , pianist K AZEM A BDULLAH is winner of the ARTS National Talent Search Competition in 1997 and many other awards, most recently being a grand prize of the National Symphony Orchestra Competition and the Bill Cerutti Award from WETA public radio in Washington D.C. He soloed with Cincinnati and National Symphony orchestras and performs in recitals and participates in music festivals in the US and abroad. On Friday, October 19, 2001, Kazem will perform Copland's Clarinet Concerto with the USC Thornton Symphony.
Born in Indiana, Kazem began playing clarinet at the age of nine and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and Magna cum Laude from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 2000. Currently, Kazem pursues a Master's Degree at USC.

Valenti. Born in Brooklyn, New York. He knew that he wanted to be a musician since the age of three. He moved to California and started on trumpet at ten years old in a local Grammar School Music program. Maestro Valenti stayed in music in the local Schools of Los Angeles. During the second World War and after High School, he went into the Navy. Later he was Honorably Discharged from the Navy and attended Westlake College of Music on the GI. Bill of rights. There, he studied with some of the most prestigious instructors. Majoring in Conducting, Harmony, Counterpoint, Solfeggio, Orchestration and on Trumpet, His main instrument. He graduated after two years and won an extra two year scholarship from the Veterans Administration for having superior Grades. Recommended by the Dean of the school who thought that he had an unusual talent. The Dean felt that VALENTI deserved the extended advanced studies with the fine staff at Westlake College. His first term of two years equivalent to a Bachelors Degree, his second term of two years equivalent to a Masters Degree. He performed with many notable studio Orchestras in Hollywood doing Recordings. During that period he played with the Art Linkletter show (NBC Staff). Also with the Mark Wilson's Magic land of Alkazam (CBS Staff).
