jon kimura parker was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Artist Seriesjon kimura parker Mozart to Corea only sounds odd on paper-it sounds great
    http://www.pianodisc.com/artists/Parker.html
Jon Kimura Parker Jon Kimura Parker was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He studied piano with his uncle, Edward Parker, and appeared with the Vancouver Youth Orchestra at the age of five. After advanced study at the Vancouver Academy of Music, he was admitted to the Juilliard School on full scholarship. While there he studied with the famous piano pedagogue, Adele Marcus. Today, Parker has a very full concert schedule, appearing in recital or with top orchestras around the world. He also recently accepted a position as Professor of Piano with the Shepherd School of Music of Rice University, Houston, Texas. For his first PianoDisc recording, Parker wanted to share with his audience his love for classical music and his love for jazz. Although the majority of the disk is devoted to the classics (like Mozart's Sonata in A Major, K. 331), the rousing finale pieces are classic jazz: Art Tatum's arrangement of "Runnin' Wild" and Chick Corea's "Got A Match?" Although the combination of Mozart and Corea may sound a little unusual, Parker made a disk that mirrors his own recitals: he almost always plays a jazz encore-with very enthusiastic response from his audiences! Artist Series: Jon Kimura Parker - Mozart to Corea only sounds odd on paper-it sounds great on a piano!

It was an instant hit with Saint Paul Sunday listeners, and it's now available on the series' latest CD, Master Play .
