Cambridge, MA, April 26, 2005 – The American Academy of Arts and Sciences today announced the election of 196 new Fellows and 17 new Foreign Honorary Members. The 213 men and women are leaders in scholarship, business, the arts, and public affairs. This year’s new Fellows include Nobel Prize-winning physicist Eric Cornell of the University of Colorado; Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist Steven Squyres , leader of NASA’s Rover program for the exploration of Mars; Dante scholar and chairman emeritus of the National Humanities Center, Robert Hollander ; sculptor and painter Jeff Koons ; Academy Award-winning actor and director Sidney Poitier ; choreographers Mark Morris and Judith Jamison ; journalist Tom Brokaw ; Washington Post Company CEO Donald Graham ; Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page ; Time, Inc., CEO

Professional Leadership Directors Art Kelly , Executive Director, began his tenure with Piedmont Choirs in 1999. He brings with him a 33-year background in bank marketing and an enthusiasm for music and choruses. He recently retired as a corporate marketing manager from Bank of America. Both his children participated in Piedmont Choirs and he and his late wife were involved with Piedmont Choirs at its inception back in 1983. He also plays several musical instruments and sings in a barbershop quartet. Robert Geary Sue Bohlin , Director of Training, is also conductor of GB1. Sue also serves as the Choirs' Principal Accompanist and Assistant Director of Ensemble. Sue joined the staff of Piedmont Choirs in 1984. She was formerly Music Director for George Coates Performance Works theatre in San Francisco and has accompanied numerous choirs in the Bay Area. She also served as professor of oboe at the Conservatorio Nacional de Mexico and is a freelance accompanist, composer, producer, and conductor. Her Bachelor of Music Performance is from the Conservatory of Music at University of the Pacific.
Performing Department Faculty Martin Benvenuto Bruce Lengacher
, conductor of ECCO, received a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Arts in Education from San Francisco State University. He currently serves as the director of choral activities at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, and he has been the General/Classroom Music and Choral Representative for the Bay Section of California Music Educators Association. Bruce has worked with Ragazzi and Peninsula Girls Chorus. He is a composer/arranger, a clinician throughout the Bay Area, and a former member of the San Jose Choral Project. He has been conductor of Boys Intermediate and Boys Advanced, and was head of the Trianing Department and Camp Administrator.
