A pianist is a person who plays the piano . A professional pianist can perform solo pieces, play with an orchestra or smaller ensemble , or accompany one or more singers or solo instrumentalists. A performing classical pianist usually starts playing piano at a very young age, some as early as three years old. Many well-known classical composers were able pianists themselves; for example, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Ludwig van Beethoven Franz Liszt Frederic Chopin ... Robert Schumann , and Sergei Rachmaninov were all virtuoso pianists. Some pianists have special preferences as to which composer's music they play. Home DC About the Teacher The musical gifts of internationally acclaimed piano virtuoso Tzvetan Konstantinov showed themselves early. Born in Bulgaria, he began his piano studies at the age of five and gave his first public recital at the age of nine. At eighteen, he performed the complete Bach's "Well Tempered Clavier" from memory. After winning two of the most prestigious competitions in Bulgaria, he toured extensively throughout his native country. Following his graduation Summa Cum Laude from the "Meisterklasse" at the famed State Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov," Sofia, Bulgaria he went on to advanced studies at the world renowned University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Konstantinov mastered his piano playing under one of the most beloved and valued concert pianists and pedagogues in Bulgaria, Ms. Velichka (Wella) Savova. (Ms. Savova was a student and assistant of Leonard Kreutzer and Gottfried Calston at the Academy of Music in Berlin.) Mr. Konstantinov many mentors and teachers include Sviatoslav Richter, Rudolf Kegrer, Shura Cherkassky, Bella Davidovich, Tatiana Nikolaeva, Eugene Malinin and Grant Johannesen. Prof. Konstantinov appears frequently on Radio and Television.

Their recital will consist of Mozart's Grand Sonata for Two Pianos K448, Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn Op. 566 and Moussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Bulgarian born French composer Emile Naoumoff has transcribed Moussorgsky's Pictures for two pianos. Maestro Rostropovich and the National Symphony with Naoumoff premiered this version of Pictures in its orchestral version in 1994 as soloist. GW
