Excerpts from the press
"Andreas Klein is a fascinating artist with all the indispensable qualities: touch, tone, temperament, taste - the four T's of pianism."
New York Times
"Pianist Who Makes Silences Sound Like Music (headline)
Mr. Klein is an excellent pianist."
New York Times
"Elaborate display of technical prowess. Klein resembled a sketch artist bringing a scene to life with quick virtuoso strokes and shading... Klein conveyed an impression of narrative momentum underlying a musical structure, regardless of how explicitly programmatic."
Washington Post
"Klein is an interpreter above all modern, who gives detailed attention to the interpretation of the work and executes a clear picture of the structure of the piece. He accomplishes with immaculate technique a rare beauty of sound." Stampa Sera , Italy "Surpassing Musicality (headline) ...played without unnaturalness, often somewhat fragile in tone, delicate, but with strong endings." Berner Zeitung , Switzerland "Klein interpreted in a most passionate, concentrated fashion, but without exaggeration, preserving the basic character of this concerto. The bold contrasts in general and within the second and third movements were juxtaposed with suspense and balance."

German-born pianist Andreas Klein is not only internationally acclaimed as a luminous and captivating artist, but also as an introspective and poetic performer. His brilliant technique serves only as a tool to command a wide range of tonal colors and his unequaled approach elicits lyricism in a repertoire ranging from Baroque to the 20th century works. The New York Times summed it up: "A fascinating artist with all the indispensable qualities: temperament, taste, touch tone, the four T's of pianism."
Most recently, he received highest accolades for his crystalline Mozart interpretations as soloist with the world renowned Lucerne Festival Strings. They appeared in ten US cities including some of the foremost venues, such as the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Spivey Hall in Atlanta, the Wortham Center in Houston and Mechanics Hall near Boston. Some of these concerts were broadcast by NPR's "Performance Today" and by WGBH Boston.
Andreas Klein's career as soloist has taken him to numerous of the world's most prestigious venues: London's Wigmore Hall, Berlin's Philharmonic Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, and to Rome, Milan, Bern, Leipzig, Dresden, Damascus, and Yerevan. He has toured Europe, the Middle East and throughout the US appearing in major music centers.

An interesting combination, but of what? Of late classical Viennese and early twentieth century Viennese masters? Or is it very early and very late Romantic works? Leaving aside such simplistic comparisons, they are clearly works that suit this particular pianist who brings his great qualities of clarity and variety of touch to both styles. We may sometimes need to remind ourselves, faced with the images of Beethoven as a wild, unkempt genius, that he was less a proto-Romantic than a highly sophisticated Classical composer. His achievement was to hugely extend and enrich the Classical form but not invent the Romantic style. The modified sonata form he used for Opp. 101 and 109 owe more to the baroque models of Handel and C.P.E. Bach than any forecast of rhapsodic Romantic structures. It is arguable that the Romantic composers who admired Beethoven the most – Brahms and Berlioz – are also the most Classical of the nineteenth century (almost Baroque in the case of Brahms).

The New York Times described Mr. Klein as "a fascinating artist with all the indispensable qualities: temperament, taste, touch, tone; the four T's of pianism." Andreas Klein's career as soloist has taken him to numerous of the world's most prestigious venues: London's Wigmore Hall, Berlin's Philharmonic Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. , the prestigious Wortham Center in Houston, and Philadelphia's Kimmel Center. He has toured Europe, the Middle East, and throughout the United States appearing on major concert series. His recitals are frequently heard on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and for the third time as a featured guest live on WGBH, Boston and KUHF Houston. To attract and introduce television audiences to classical music, he conceived and created a series of short works by composers such as Chopin, Debussy and Stravinsky called "Intermezzo with Andreas Klein", which was seen on PBS stations nationwide.
