Public Invited to Bush Speech
Former President George Bush will speak at the Johnson Coliseum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, as part of Sam Houston State University's Distinguished Lecturer Series. SHSU President Bobby K. Marks will present President Bush with the Sam Houston Humanitarian Award, which was established to honor the 200th Birthday (March 2, 1993) of Texas hero Sam Houston. Previous recipients of the honor were former Secretary of State James Baker and Lech Walesa, former president of the Republic of Poland. Marks said that one of the purposes of the Distinguished Lecturer Series is to provide area citizens as well as university students, faculty, and employees with the opportunity to hear distinguished public leaders in person. "The university encourages everyone interested in government and the kinds of issues that President Bush is uniquely qualified to discuss to attend this important event," said Marks.
The Good, the Bad, the Operatic
The heroes and villains of the opera world will be in the spotlight Friday and Saturday (March 6 and 7) when the SHSU music department presents "Saints and Sinners," two evenings of operatic vignettes at the Academic Building 3 Dance Theater.

JACK IN THE BOX - 1961- REPAIR
I have a 1961 jack-in-the-box in virtually mint condition, but the puppet was apparently pulled out of the box. The metal case so of course sealed with rolled metal. I assume that any repair will void any value of the box, but is there a method for properly fixing this? Thus far, all I can see is cutting a part of the bottom out, making the repair, and sealing the bottom back up.  Any suggestions? Thanks!  Charlie

JACKS
I have a set of metal play jacks with a rubber ball marked "Made in USA, No Patent, Circle H Mfg. Co., New York City, 1946." Do you have any information regarding Circle H, or the value of the set of jacks? Thanks for your help, Bob.
