Festival de. version eng.version 14th Chopin Festival (20-23 August 1998) AN UPLIFTING FESTIVAL OF MUSIC ORGANISED BY THE VIENNA INTERNATIONAL CHOPIN SOCIETY IN THE GAMING CHARTERHOUSE May the borrowed phase "Affabre Cincinui" (ideal resonance), which is the name of a group of singers that will be mentioned later, stand over the 14th Chopin Festival (20-23 August 1998). The charm of the Lower Austrian landscape and the perfectly restored Charterhouse create an ideal environment for edifying resonance of all kinds. As a city person, greeted by many friendly inhabitants of Gaming, one feels motivated to respond in the same manner and to cast off the city armour.
How outstanding the collaboration between conductor, pianist and orchestra was, even overcoming the poor acoustics of the church hall, had already been perceived during the piano concerto. Now, in Beethoven's symphony No. 4, the Tonkünstler surpassed themselves: the sounds streamed in all varieties of finesse, whirling passages and soulful melodies created "ideal resonance" in the audience which in turn triggered a storm of applause.

has graciously agreed, on very short notice, to perform in concert to replace Krzysztof Jablonski who was unfortunately unavailable.
Just coming off a Japanese tour and celebrating the release of his first Canadian Recording, a triple CD set of Chopin's compositions arranged for string quintet(Tandem Records Classics), Mr. Radziwonowicz will play 6 solo piano pieces by Frederic Chopin and a generous selection of compositions from his recording of the complete piano works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski (Selene Records).
Mr. Radziwonowicz, a winner of various competitions such as the Franz List International Piano Competition in Utrecht, Holland (1986) and a recipient of the American Fullbright Scholarship has performed in many musical centers in Europe, North, South and Central America, Australia and Japan.
This will be Mr. Radziwonowicz’s third visit to Canada and his first appearance in Vancouver. His recent recital in San Francisco was well received by enthusiastic audience. Professor John McCarthy of the "San Francisco Classical Voice" wrote:
"Radziwonowicz has a full-bodied cantabile tone that is never forced. His fervent response to harmonic color and un-selfconcious flexibility are something special. Most importantly, Radziwonowicz has his own interpretative perspective and isn't simply following elusive ghosts of the past".
