Biography Steven Osborne, pianist Steven Osborne is one of Britain's most highly regarded young pianists. He was born in Scotland in 1971 and studied with Richard Beauchamp at St. Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and with Renna Kellaway at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In 1988 he was a finalist in the piano section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition , and went on to win first prize in the prestigious Clara Haskil Competition in 1991 and the Naumburg International Competition in New York in May 1997. In the UK he works regularly with the major orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Hallé, Royal Scottish National and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras. He has made many live and studio recordings for the BBC and has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall and at the Edinburgh, Aldeburgh, Bath, Cheltenham, Lichfield and St Magnus Festivals. In 1998 he made his debut at the Proms and returned in 2000 for a televised performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and again in 2001 to perform the Beethoven Triple Concerto.

Stephen Jaffe, Composer The 2004 concert season marked the introduction of two milestones for composer Stephen Jaffe: the world premiere of the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by the National Symphony Orchestra, Leonard Slatkin conducting, with David Hardy, cello soloist (at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.); and the premiere recording of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra with the Odense Symphony of Denmark, Gregory Fulkerson, violin, and Donald Palma conducting. Both have met with warm acclaim. STEPHEN JAFFE's music has been featured at major concerts and festivals including the Nottingham, Tanglewood, and Oregon Bach Festivals, and heard throughout the U.S., Europe, and China by ensembles including the R.A.I. of Rome, the San Francisco and New Jersey Symphonies, Berlin's Spectrum Concerts, and many others. Stephen Prutsman Piano Biography Most recently, he was appointed by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as one of their new Artistic Partners for the next three concert seasons, beginning in 2004-05. In this role, Prutsman's duties will include concert programming, performing and leading the SPCO from the keyboard, performing chamber music, and writing two commissions to be performed by the orchestra during the 2004-05 season. The concert will take place at Nevins Hall, in downtown Framingham (Rt 126 and Union Ave.) Alpin Hong thrills audiences with his stunning virtuosity, artistic vision, and irreverent style. A graduate of the Julliard School, he has performed at Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and internationally at the Sinfonietta Cracovai in Krakow. STEVE SWALLOW Steve Swallow was born in New York City in 1940, and spent his childhood in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Before turning to the acoustic bass at age 14, he studied piano (with Howard Kasschau, who also taught Nelson Riddle) and trumpet. His otherwise miserable adolescence was brightened by his discovery of jazz. He took many of his first stabs at improvisation with Ian Underwood (who subsequently became a Mother Of Invention and an L.A. studio ace), with whom he attended a swank New England private school. During his years at Yale University he studied composition with Donald Martino, and played dixieland with many of the greats, including Pee Wee Russell, Buck Clayton and Vic Dickenson. In 1960 he met Paul and Carla Bley, left Yale in a hurry, moved to New York City, and began to tour and record with Paul Bley, The Jimmy Giuffre Trio and George Russell’s sextet, which featured Eric Dolphy and Thad Jones. He also performed in the early ‘60s with Joao Gilberto, Sheila Jordan, and bands led by Benny Goodman, Marian McPartland, Chico Hamilton, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, Clark Terry and Bob Brookmeyer, and Chick Corea. In 1964 he joined The Art Farmer Quartet featuring Jim Hall, and began writing music. Many of his songs have been recorded by prominent jazz artists, including Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Gary Burton, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Jack DeJohnette, Steve Kuhn, Lyle Mays, Jim Hall and Pat Metheny. And he was recently sampled by A Tribe Called Quest.
