www.audio-muziek.nl CD-RECENSIE De Heifetz Collection cd-biografie van een vioolfenomeen ©Cor Molenbeek, augustus 2004 (Cor Molenbeek is voormalig hoofdredacteur van het muziektijdschrift "Luister") November 1917. Een nieuwe naam op de platenlijst van RCA-Victor: Jascha Heifetz, zeventien jaar. Een fonografisch debuut dat de opmaat voor een nieuw tijdperk in de vioolspel kunst betekent. 1994. Het bijna complete levenswerk van deze legendarische violist is nu gebundeld op 65 zilveren schijfjes. Het Dat Heifetz een vioolfenomeen is, lijdt geen twijfel. Zijn ronde en gedisciplineerde, uit de Russische vioolschool stammende toon mixt hij via een uitzonderlijk lenige stoktechniek met een typisch 'zwevend' geluid en een kristallijnen effect. Het is onimiteerbaar en met superlatieven bewierookt spel. Heifetz' credo 'Alleen de viool mag emoties overbrengen' wakkert echter ook wel eens tegenwind aan. Ongewone tempi, onverwachte accenten en zijn sfinxachtige houding bezorgen hem het imago van onpersoonlijke 'koude schoonheid en mooi marmer'. Een soms niet onbegrijpelijke doch eenzijdige reactie, want in de beheerste, intens muzikale gevoelsuitingen en schijnbare luchthartigheid van deze introverte kunstenaar klinkt wel degelijk emotionele betrokkenheid door. Een violist moet volgens Heifetz 'de zenuwen van een stierenvechter, de vitaliteit van een nachtclubgastvrouw, en de concentratie van een Boeddhistische monnik bezitten'. Kortom: discipline. Je moet systematisch studeren, vooral toonladders en proberen het beter te doen dan anderen. Dat is belangrijk zegt de violist in het 9 minuten durende 'Heifetz on Music'. Zelden hoorden we Heifetz over Heifetz. Hij was wars van theoretiseren en interviews met hem zijn een zeldzaamheid. Enthousiast babbelt hij over zijn autohobby en de hem rustgevende golven van de oceaan. Een poker face als hij speelt? 'Ik weet niets van dat soort dingen'. Hij wilde vioolspelen en simpelweg de noten tot leven brengen.

Welke componenten gebruikt worden, bepaald de eigenaar/koper van een installatie. Er is echter één component dat altijd al aanwezig is en dat is: akoestiek. Elke luisterruimte, een zaal of een huiskamer heeft zijn eigen akoestiek. Toine Dingemans gaf een lezing over het begrip akoestiek. In samenwerking met Ron Ploeger van Callas-audio ( http://www.callas-audio.nl ) werd een demonstratie gegeven van wat akoestiek beïnvloeding kan doen. De grote zaal was voorzien van tientallen “tube-traps”. Dat zijn cilindervormige elementen die de nagalm en reflectie van het geluid beïnvloeden. Behalve het optische effect, viel vooral op dat de ons welbekende ruimte kleiner klonk en het makkelijker was de muziek te volgen.. Toine vertelde dat er slechts vier begrippen een rol spelen in de akoustiek. Dat zijn: Ratio, Nagalm, Reflectiegedrag en de luisteropstelling. Even kort over wat dit is: De Ratio , is de afmetingverhouding van de luisterruimte. In een bestaande ruimte ligt die verhouding vast . Niet altijd zegt Toine, soms kan een stevige voorzetmuur een ruimte met een slechte ratio omzetten in een met een goede ratio.
