All County Orchestra
All County Band Solo and Ensemble ... Curriculum Theater Special Events All County Orchestra The All County Orchestra program is designed to give county instrumentalist the opportunity to participate in an advanced large ensemble under the direction of a Guest Conductor. Middle school students are chosen and seated according to the individual school directors. High school students are auditioned for participation and seating. This event is usually scheduled in the fall, normally the first week of November. Music is selected by the directors and the Guest Conductors. The Guest Conductor conducts the final rehearsals and concert. 2005 All County Orchestra Saturday, January 22, 2004 7:30 p.m. North Hagerstown High School Auditorium Guest Conductors: Elizabeth Schulze Praised by critics as "an ideal music director whose infectious energy is as contagious as her exuberant and thoroughly committed musicianship," Elizabeth Schulze is currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. In recent seasons, she has also served as a conducting assistant and cover conductor for the New York Philharmonic.

Harlond S. Hays Sr., 78, of Marysville died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at
Memorial Hospital of Union County following complications from surgery.
A former truck driver, he retired in 1991 after 11 years in maintenance
at Union Manor Nursing Center. He was a former employee of the Ohio
Grain Company in Marysville and the Ohio Orchard in Milford Center. He
was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in China during World
War II, and was a member of VFW Post 3320. He enjoyed bluegrass, old
country and gospel music. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather
and great-grandfather and enjoyed camping and traveling in his motor
home with his family. He was born March 3, 1926, in Portsmouth to the late Rev. Calvin J. and Martha Stone Hays and was predeceased by three sons, Calvin John Hays, Harold Eugene Hays and Timothy Hays; a sister, Susanna McKinley; and on Nov. 27, 2004, by his wife of 58 years, Annabelle Bright Hays. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Michael) McCoy of Marysville; four sons, Harlond (Tawni) Hays Jr. of West Mansfield and Darrell (Nan)

She was born June 6, 1941, in Plain City and was predeceased by her
father, Ellis Berry in 2001 and her mother, Lulua Marie Bugg Berry in

Cook III of Columbus; two brothers, James (Barbara) Berry of Plain City and Jack Berry of London; a sister, Phyllis (Gene) Johnson of Waukee, Iowa; and nieces and nephews, Janet Sunnenburg, Brian (Marti) Berry, Bethany Berry and Jill (Bryan) Dunham. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Plain City. The Rev. Floyd Loy will officiate and burial will be at the Big Darby Cemetery. Stanley John Slanovich - Pueblo Chieftain - March 26, 2004 - Stanley John Slanovich, 48, passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Betty Slanovich. Survived by his son, Justin; sister, Judy Kucharyson; brothers, Steve and Jerry (Janice); nephews, Paul Kucharyson, Matt Slanovich; nieces, Jennifer (Slanovich) Dunn, Kristin and Michelle Kucharyson; great-niece, Jasmine Kucharyson. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Stan will be sadly missed and remembered for his gentle and solitary spirit, love of nature and animals. Stan was a 1974 graduate of East High School, served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, T.G. McCarthy Rose Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Bacino officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pueblo Animal Services. Private interment at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

    Arvin Kurth Arvin Duane Kurth was born Sept. 13, 1938 in Sidney, Neb. to August Frederick William Kurth and Viola Louise Burke. He died Sunday, May 22, 2005 in Imperial, Neb. at the age of 66.
    Arvin was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton, Neb.
    He received his education and grew up in the Dalton area. On May 2, 1958 he was joined in marriage to Iona Jean Kepler at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton. To this union they were blessed with four children: Lana, Dennis, Allen and Troy. He was joined in union to Janice Kay (Scott) Miller on April 9, 1999 in Oberlin, Kan.
    While living in the Dalton area he was employed by the Cheyenne County Highway Department and involved with the Dalton Fire Department until moving to Imperial Jan. 28, 1970.
    After moving to Imperial, he was employed by the Chase County Road Department and Harris Construction. At the time of his retirement, he was employed by the City of Imperial in the Utilities Department.
    He was a member of the Eagles Club for many years and donated a lot of time and services over the years.

    Thomas Lou Barton Jr., 62, son of Thomas and Zelma Biswell Barton, was born April 27, 1942, at Raymondville. He died June 29, 2004.
    He retired as a truck driver in the late '70s.
    He spent time hunting, fishing, bow hunting and cooking for family and friends. He liked going to auctions.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dewayne; and one sister, Colleen.
    Surviving are his wife, Nancy of the home; one daughter, Dianna Bennett of Granite City, Ill.; four sisters, Novella Gray and Cornelia Ferguson of Raymondville, Dorothy Schott of Perryville and Maxine Paris of Crouse, N.C.; three brothers, Bill Barton of Belleview, Ill., John Barton of St. James and Dewey Barton of Junction City, Kan.; and faithful friends, Lenny Clayton and Suzette Stephens.
