He was one of thirty pianists who were selected from all over the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, and England to study at the Adamant Music School. While there, his principal teacher was Mark Sullivan, and he received coaching from Gwen Beamish, Elaine Greenfield, Dmitry Rachmanov, Willard Schultz, and Golda Wainberg-Tatz. In 1992, Ronald signed an eight-year contract with the Biltmore Estate Christmas Concert Series, in Asheville, North Carolina. The Asheville Times stated he was, "a sensitive romantic pianist with a warm personality." Ronald received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. He has also performed in master classes with internationally acclaimed artists such as: Karen Shaw, John OâConor, Andre Watts, Mario Kay Ocker, Gerhardt and Barbara Suhrstedt, Maurice Hinson, Jack Roberts, Richard Cass, Leon Bates, Menahem Pressler and Max Camp. Glimpses of Students and Programs ...Students Arizona Quang-Phuc, of Tucson, AZ has been taking lessons with Grace Young Florida Eileen Stinson David , when keeping him in the room was a challenge, with the first success coming when he was able to play a single key on the keyboard. That was three years ago, with David now working on level three music and enjoying a receptive relationship with a caring adult. It has made a world of difference to David, whose picture appears on our LessonLink brochure. Delaware Michael, of Wilmington, DE received a toy keyboard at the age of six. For the next seven years, he taught himself to play by reading books and listening to recordings. He took his first formal lessons at the Christiana Cultural Arts Center, where Louise Boyd recognized him as a natural talent who had reached the level of Bach and Beethoven pieces taught by himself. Leon Bates delivers the Three Preludes with style (though he fails to conceal the feeble invention of the third). The Porgy and Bess and Girl Crazy selections ooze joie de vivre Rhapsody in Blue is only modestly successful. From the inadequate programme notes (very defective by Naxos standards - no information is given about the performers) one can only assume that Richard Hayman is the soloist/conductor. It's an acceptable but unsubtle performance. As for sound: generally well-balanced, with much vivid detail, but somewhat 'boxy'.

Lil' Lite O' Mine CD Let Us Break Bread Together CD Harold Jones, Colette Valentine Harold Jones was born in Chicago and began his musical education as a violin student at the age of ten, but when he heard another student play the piccolo, he decided that the flute was the instrument he wanted to play. He studied flute with David Underwood while attending DuSable High School, and later won a scholarship to Sherwood Music School in Chicago. He then became a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra under conductor George Schick. Mr. Jones went to New York in 1955 and was awarded a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music, where he received the "Outstanding Woodwind Player" award prior to graduation. He continued his studies with the renowned Marcel Moyse and in 1966 made his New York recital debut at Town Hall, later appearing at Carnegie Hall, CAMI Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center and at Jordan Hall in Boston. He has been a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Bach Aria orchestra, New York Sinfonietta, American Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonia, National Orchestral Association, Municipal Concerts orchestra and Symphony of the New World. He has appeared frequently with Today's Artists in New York, San Francisco and at the Yachats Music Festival in Oregon, and performs in recitals across the country as well. As a recitalist and teacher he participated in the 1988 and 1989 Manhattan School of Music International Summer Youth Festival in Taiwan. George Gershwin in Madison by Michael Allsen It was January 1934. The top news stories of the day were the recent repeal of Prohibition, the still-unsolved Lindbergh kidnapping, andhitting closest to homea violent strike by dairy farmers. On January 7, The Capital Times broke the story that George Gershwin would perform at West High School on January 24. This was sensational newsGershwin was probably the most famous musical performer to appear in Madison in the 1930s. He was already a familiar name by the early 1920s, with a string of successful Broadway shows, and hit songs like Swanee. But it was a collaboration with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in early 1924 that made him a national star. His "Jazz Concerto" Rhapsody in Blue was an unprecedented success, and one of the first truly successful fusions of Jazz style and Classical orchestration. Gershwin became increasingly confident writing for orchestra, and in succeeding years followed up the Rhapsody with orchestral works like An American in Paris and the Concerto in F.
