Short note on the life and work of the father of communism, karl marx.
http://www.blupete.com/Literature/Biographies/Philosophy/Marx.htm

Karl Marx
Marx was the German founder of communism. He followed Hegel's deterministic view that all events come about as a result of the inevitable progress of history, "progress" in that the state passes through different stages. "A nation is assigned the accomplishment of one of these stages, it flourishes for a while and then gives way to another. It then disappears and another, superior State emerges."
With Engels , Marx brought out the Communistic Manifesto
Marx' prescription was to increase the power of the State. In the process the bourgeois family will vanish along with its complement, capital. Specifically, in his Communist Manifesto Marx proposed:
  • Abolition of property in land and application of all rents to public purposes.
  • A heavy progressive income tax.
  • Abolition of all right of inheritance.
  • Confiscation of the property of emigrants and rebels.
  • Centralization of credit in the hands of the State.
  • Centralization of the means of communication and transport...
  • Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State...
  • Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

      Romney: Hillary as Karl Marx?
Posted: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 6:25 PM by Domenico Montanaro Filed Under: Romney
      From NBC/NJ’s Adam Aigner-Treworgy
Romney rounded out the scheduled appearances today by GOP presidential candidates at the Club for Growth’s fall conference in DC. The former governor touted his economic accomplishments in Massachusetts and continued distinguishing himself from Giuliani over his support for the line-item veto. “I used that 844 times as governor of Massachusetts,” Romney said. “I’m glad I had it.”
A day after Thompson called for Republicans to spend less time worrying about Hillary Clinton and more time worrying about themselves, Romney spent several minutes criticizing Clinton’s view of the role of government.
“[Clinton] believes in big government and bigger taxes, if you will, big brother making life better for everybody,” Romney said. “She’s described her economic philosophy by contrasting it with what we’ve known for the last couple hundred years. She said we’ve always been an on-your-own society…we should be a we’re-all-in-it-together society, a shared responsibility society. So it’s out with Adam Smith and in with Karl Marx.”

ARE Americans practicing Communism? Read the 10 Planks of The Communist Manifesto to discover the truth and learn how to know your enemy... Karl Marx describes in his communist manifesto, the ten steps necessary to destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state. Those ten steps are known as the Ten Planks of The Communist Manifesto… The following brief presents the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart for each of the planks. From comparison it's clear MOST Americans have by myths, fraud and deception under the color of law by their own politicians in both the Republican and Democratic and parties, been transformed into Communists. Another thing to remember, Karl Marx in creating the Communist Manifesto designed these planks AS A TEST to determine whether a society has become communist or not. If they are all in effect and in force, then the people ARE practicing communists. Communism, by any other name is still communism, and is VERY VERY destructive to the individual and to the society!!

Historical Materialism and the Economics of Karl Marx
    by Benedetto Croce
    translated by C.M. Meredith
and with an introduction by A.D. Lindsay
INTRODUCTION The Essays in this volume, as will be apparent, have all of them had an occasional origin. They bear evident traces of particular controversy and contain much criticism of authors who are hardly, if at all, known in this country. Their author thought it worth while to collect them in one volume and it has been, I am sure, worth while to have them translated into English, because though written on different occasions and in different controversies they have all the same purpose. They are an attempt to make clear by philosophical criticism the real purpose and value of Marx's work. It is often said that it is the business of philosophy to examine and criticise the assumptions of the sciences and philosophy claims that in this work it is not an unnecessary meddler stepping in where it is not wanted. For time and again for want of philosophical criticism the sciences have overstepped their bounds and produced confusion and contradiction. The distinction between the proper spheres of science and history and moral judgment is not the work of either science or history or moral judgment but can only be accomplished by philosophical reflection, and the philosopher will justify his work, if he can show the various contending parties that his distinctions will disentangle the puzzles into which they have fallen and help them to understand one another.

    Karl Marx
Karl Marx was born at Trier in 1818 of a German-Jewish family converted to Christianity. As a student in Bonn and Berlin he was influenced by Hegel's dialectic, but he later reacted against idealist philosophy and began to develop his theory of historical materialism. He related the state of society to its economic foundations and mode of production, and recommended armed revolution on the part of the proletariat. In Paris in 1844 Marx met Friedrich Engels, with whom he formed a life-long partnership. Together, they prepared the Manifesto of the Communist Party (1848) as a statement of the Communist League's policy. In 1848 Marx returned to Germany and took an active part in the unsuccessful democratic revolution. The following year he arrived in England as a refugee and lived in London until his death in 1883. Helped financially by Engels, Marx and his family nevertheless lived in great poverty. After years of research (mostly carried out in the British Museum), he published in 1867 the first volume of his great work, Capital. From 1864 to 1872 Marx played a leading role in the International Working Men's Association, and his last years saw the development of the first mass workers' parties founded on avowedly Marxist principles. Besides the two posthumous volumes of Capital compiled by Engels, Karl Marx's other writings include The German Ideology, The Poverty of Philosophy, The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, The Civil War in France, A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy, Grundrisse: Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy and Theories of Surplus-value.

Karl Marx studied law and philosophy, and was initially influenced by the works of G. W. F. Hegel . Marx rejected the idealism of Hegel and developed a more materialistic theory of history as science, ultimately predicting that the triumph of the working class was inevitable. With his collaborator Friedrich Engels , Marx published the Communist Manifesto in 1848. Exiled from Europe, Marx lived in London, England and earned money through contributions to various newspapers, including the New York Tribune . Marx devoted the last decades of his life to working on Das Kapital , and was active in early communist organizations. His work greatly influenced modern socialism, and he is considered one of the founders of economic history and sociology. Father of Marxist Communism
Karl Marx was born to a Jewish Lutheran family. About a year before Marx was born, his father had converted to the Prussian state religion of Lutheranism in order to continue working as a lawyer. Luthernism was the major Protestant denomination of Christianity where Marx lived. Marx and his family were nominally Christian. Karl Marx was raised in an essentially non-religious home and he adopted atheism. Karl Marx founded Marxism, which is widely known as an influential political and economic system, but which is also a religion from a sociological perspective. Marx founded "Marxist Communism" and he was one of history's most important proponents of Communism. Marx co-authored The Communist Manifesto , which is probably the most important document in the history of Communsim, essentially the "scripture" or "holy book" of the movement. But Marx himself did not create Communism; it was an existing, organized philosophy that he was attracted to. The passage below briefly describes the religious background and religious affiliation of Karl Marx.
