On Muslim History and Civilization

The Muslim geographers and historians have provided excellent records of Muslim rulers and peoples in Africa. Among them are Al-Khwarzimi, Ibn Munabbah, Al-Masudi, Al-Bakri, Abul Fida, Yaqut, Ibn Batutah, Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Fadlallah al-'Umari, Mahmud al-Kati, Ibn al Mukhtar and Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di. Islam reached the Savannah region in the 8
th ... century and describes the rule of Mansa Musa whose fame spread to Sudan, North Africa and up to Europe.
Allah Allah is the proper name in Arabic for The One and Only God, The Creator and Sustainer of the universe. It is used by the Arab Christians and Jews for the God (Eloh-im in Hebrew; 'Allaha' in Aramaic, the mother tongue of Jesus, pbuh). The word Allah does not have a plural or gender. Allah does not have any associate or partner, and He does not beget nor was He begotten. SWT is an abbreviation of Arabic words that mean 'Glory Be To Him.'
s or pbuh Peace Be Upon Him. This expression is used for all

Fitzgerald: The Article of Faith of the Deux-Rivistes
Any organization or group with the words "Euro" or "Mediterranean" in the title is likely to consist of manipulated or calculating deux-rivistes that is, those who believe that the peoples of the two "rives" or banks, north and south, of the Mediterranean are not so much divided as united, or should be, by that body of water. The unknown or even secret agreements, governmental or quasi-governmental, according to which European states committed themselves to allowing the Arabs to freely promote a European Party Line on Islamic culture, Islam, and the Arab Muslim view of such matters as the Lesser Jihad against Israel, can be found in Bat Ye'or's Eurabia . By now many in Europe have become aware that their ruling elites have betrayed them on the matter of Islam and Muslim immigrants, but do not know exactly how, when, where. Eurabia helps tell them. With deux-rivisme, the deux-rivistes replace the tiersmondistes. And to hell with the Christians of Black Africa as in the southern Sudan, or southern Nigeria, or the Cote d'Ivoire. French colonialism, consisting of the manipulation and corruption of local leaders and the application, where necessary, of French force, now stands foursquare with Muslim colonialism, and therefore with Arab imperialism. The "deux-rivistes" know which side of the mosque their bread is buttered on. And so the real division, the one reflected in or caused by Islam itself, which uncompromisingly divides humanity between Believers and Infidels and offers loyalty to one and endless hostility, even murderous hostility, to the other, is ignored. But that teaching of such a divisiion between Believer and Infidel cannot be effaced or ignored, and its effects can be seen everywhere that Muslims and non-Muslims live in the same polity, whether in Dar al-Islam (Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Lebanon) or in Dar al-harb, where Islam does not yet prevail and Muslims do not yet rule. Until very recently, no one was allowed to notice this. Few even today permit themselves, or are permitted, to discuss that difference, that inculcated abyss that cannot, alas, be bridged by the non-Muslim side only, and cannot be bridged by the Muslims until the tenets of Islam itself, its canonical texts, are transformed.

History
of the Italian Muslim Association
and the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community
While opposing those who claim that Islam and Western civilization are self-contradictory, AMI thinks that the Western world owes many of its peculiar features to an Islamic influence, passing through the Latin translations of books by al-Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Sina and Ibn Rushd. It also teaches that Western democracies, implying the principle of neutrality of the State in front of the religions and freedom for all sects, are the milieu that better grant an integral practice of Islam. In conformity with the doctrine of Ahl as-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah, AMI wanted its member to strictly abide by the Italian civil and penal law, and sponsors an increase in interfaith dialogue and cooperation with the People of the Book. It has always been in good relations with the Catholic Church, the Federation of the Italian Evangelical Churches and the Italian Jewish Community. In 1991, some AMI members founded in Rome the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community (ICCII) whose goal is to increase knowledge of Islamic sciences in Italy. On April 3, 1993 the AMI Board and the ICCII Direction assembled and decided to unify the two organizations under a single set of articles . The two organizations have been cooperating from the beginning, and also has common members; this decision of unification was nevertheless accepted out of a request coming from the Italian Government after the proposal of an agreement between the State and the Islamic Community. A single representation in front of the State was regarded as a necessary step toward the preparation of bill on rights of Islam in Italy.

Ibn Khaldun: dynastic change and its economic consequences
Arab Studies Quarterly (ASQ) Spring, 1994 by Ahmed Alrefai Michael Brun INTRODUCTION IBN KHALDUN WAS BORN IN TUNISIA IN 1332 and died in Egypt in 1406. He is a famous philosopher, and is sometimes considered the first sociologist for his critical remarks on how history should be studied. He outlined dynastic change in terms of transformations in the governing classes and related these to changes in economic conditions, for example, the introduction of new wants and new production, the effects of luxury, trends in taxation, and other features of expansion and contraction.

Report, January 14, 2002 Free Email Newsletter Contribute to Human Rights Watch Human Rights Watch called for their immediate and unconditional release, and for Ibrahim to be allowed to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment.
The verdict comes on the heels of a new law of associations passed by the Egyptian parliament last month, giving the authorities draconian powers to dissolve non-governmental organizations (NGOs) by administrative order and without recourse to a court of law, and to interfere unduly in their internal affairs.
"The retrial of Ibrahim and his co-defendants was as manifestly unfair as the original trial," said Hanny Megally, executive director of Human Rights Watch's Middle East and North Africa division. Muqaddimah or Outline of History, from which the following translation is taken.
Moderation in all things:
None of you should have too sumptuous an office or go beyond the proper limits in his dress, his mount, his food, his drink, his house, his servants, or in the other things pertaining to his station, for, despite the nobility of the craft by which God has distinguished you, you are servants who are not permitted to fall short in their service. You are caretakers whom one does not permit to be wasteful or spendthrift. Try to preserve your modesty by planned moderation in all the things I have mentioned and told you. Beware of the wastefulness of prodigality and the bad results of luxury. They engender poverty and bring about humiliation. People (prodigal and living in luxury) are put to shame, especially if they be secretaries and men of education."
