    Steinberger, Jack

The National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution and the Deutsches Museum collaborated in June 2000 to conduct video interviews with thirty-three Nobel Laureates. Interviews were conducted in Lindau, Germany, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere in the United States. The video documentation subsequently formed the core of the Nobel Voices Video History Project and the exhibition Nobel Voices: Celebrating 100 Years of the Nobel Prize . The interviewees were asked about their motivations, visions for the future, and opinions on the nature of creativity and innovation. In the interviews, the laureates speak about their passion for their work, their childhood inspirations, the spirit of discovery, and the personal meaning of the Nobel Prize.

Go to http://www.steinbergerworld.com . It is an unofficial site but it is the best site for all kinds of general Steinberger information. Andy Yakubik has amassed a great compilation of Steinberger data, and it's all in one easy to find location. Among other things, he has assumed the task of assembling a database of serial numbers. One of Steinberger's earlier manufacturing logs which contained a sequential list of serial numbers, model of instruments, and production dates for several years of production was misplaced during a factory relocation. This loss created gaps in the "official" documentation. Andy is determined to correct this and other inconsistencies in Steinberger data. Peekamoose is happy to be a regular contributor to the information on Andy's site; the information that he lists there allows us to spend more time working on instruments and less time answering general questions about Steinbergers. Marie CURIE, Pierre CURIE, Henri BECQUEREL
For the birth of the neutrino particle, beta radioactivity had to be known. Henri Becquerel, in 1896, did the first experiments on the radioactivity phenomena . Pierre and Marie Curie discovered in 1898 the radium, two millions times more radioactive than the uranium salts used by Becquerel. Those three scientists were at the origin of the fundamental researches on the atomic nucleus undertaken in the following years, which gave us, among others, the discovery of the neutrino, 50 years later. Marie and Pierre Curie in their laboratory
    James Chadwick
In 1914, James Chadwick shows that energy spectrum of the beta radioactivity electrons is a continuum. This problem of the continuous beta spectrum will lead 16 years later to the Pauli hypothesis and will make Niels Bohr anxious about the energy conservation principle. In 1932, Chadwick discovers the neutron, the proton's partner in atomic nucleus. With this discovery he participates indirectly to the baptism of "neutrino" by Fermi and receives the pysics Nobel price.
    Wolfgang PAULI
The idea of neutrino was born only in 1930, when Wolfgang Pauli tried a desperate saving of the "energy conservation principle". In order to explain the continuous beta spectrum, he invented a new light particle, neutral and interacting very few with the other particles of matter.

I have had this bass for about 3 weeks and played around with at home and I found myself having to roll off a whole lot of treble. Once I took it out to a gig, as it often happens I had to start all over again getting the sound I wanted. For the most part I used treble a little less than middle and the bass a little more than middle. I experimented with the blend and got a good sound all over the place exept for full mag p.u. and full piezo. I couldnt really get a vintage jazz bass sound but i guess you cant have everything. The band I'm with plays a good variety of pop, blues ,country and jazz standards. This bass has a lot of good sounds and I think I'll settle on the ones I like in time. The pick ups sound lousy on their own but great together. It is very quiet and it has a ton of sustain.
